Crescent Society, founded in 1928, is an important cultural group after the May 4th Movement. Its main members are Hu Shi and Liang Shiqiu. Because it has a large number of talented and accomplished poets such as Wen Yiduo and Xu Zhimo, and is unique in advocating metrical poetry, it has formed an important poetry school in the history of modern poetry, which is called "Crescent Poetry School" or "Metric Poetry School".

At first, most of them published their works in the supplements of Morning Post and Modern Review. 1The opening of the lithograph column of Morning Post Supplement in April, 926 can be regarded as the formal formation of this school of poetry. New Moon was first published in Shanghai on 1928, and was edited by Xu Zhimo and Wen Yiduo. The publication of Selected Poems of New Moon in 193 1 (edited by Chen) can be regarded as a summary of the poetic school and also marks the end of the poetic school. Wen Yiduo made the most important contribution to the poetry theory of Crescent Society. He systematically put forward the theory of new metrical poetry, thinking that poetry is made, advocating dancing with the shackles of metrical, and put forward the famous "three beauties", namely "the beauty of music" (syllables), "the beauty of painting" (words) and "the beauty of architecture" (symmetrical sections and neat sentences).
