This goes on for decades. In the summer of the 35th year of Qianlong's reign, I had a slight illness. On June 8, I recited the lesson as usual and chanted the mantra for about a moment. I gradually felt that the voice had gone out. Looking closely, I saw that she had passed away sitting with a smile on her face. It was a hot summer day, and three days later, my appearance was as good as life. When the clothes were burned, the flames turned into five-color lotus flowers, and everyone who saw it was amazed. She has a simple and straightforward personality, and when she sees other women making mistakes, she will scold them face to face, so many women respect her and fear her. The military women had regular classes every day. They got up early and recited several volumes of the Diamond Sutra before engaging in textile production and other matters. They closed the door at night and chanted the Buddha's name, and they remained tireless until old age. One day, an eminent old monk passed by her door. The soldier woman clasped her hands and asked, "I heard that the Vajra is indestructible. People who recite this sutra can also have an indestructible physical body. Is it true?" The monk said: "Yes." The soldier's wife passed away immediately. It was the height of summer, and because of poverty, the corpse did not rot for three days, and the house was filled with a strange fragrance. Admiral Yang Gongjie's wife personally came to handle the funeral, built a nunnery on the spot, and painted the bodies of soldiers and women with paint, which is still there today. Later, a woman from Zhenjiang came to Songcheng with her husband who was an official. Her husband died when she was young. The woman swore to be chaste and practiced pure practice in this nunnery. She made reciting Buddha's name a daily task and did not leave the house for fifty years. In times of famine, she cooked grass and ate it. Women might offer alms to her, but she would not accept anyone who was not satisfied with her. This resulted in several disciples, who could not bear the suffering and dispersed. When she was fifty years old, she said to a certain Buddhist monk with whom she got along well: "Since I have returned to Buddhism, I must know the precepts." So we went to Daxiong Mountain together to pay homage to the monks in the valley and receive and uphold the precepts. After coming back, I am more motivated to practice. Commentary: The fact that a corpse does not decay in the heat of summer must be the result of long-lasting purification of karma and solid precepts. However, not all people who are reborn in the Pure Land are like this, so don’t seek it based on the appearance.
Mrs. Cao of the Qing Dynasty (Mother of Xu)
Mrs. Cao is the mother of Bai Tianyou of Changzhou. Tianyou was willing to do good deeds throughout his life, and he served Lu Zhenren respectfully. He once set up an altar to support Luan and asked about immortal skills, and then he sat in meditation. Later, when he went to Suzhou, someone gave him the book "The True Guide to the West", which opposed celestialism and pointed to the Pure Land, so Cao Cao returned to the Buddha's vehicle. But I was very suspicious that the principles of this book were different from the magic of immortality, so I went to ask Zhenren Lu. The real person said: "What do you doubt? When the three disasters arrive, we will have no other way to go. The paradise is stable, just work hard." Therefore, he was asked to recite the "Vajra Prajna Sutra" at the same time. Tianyou no longer had any doubts. First, when Mrs. Cao was sixty-four years old, she fell ill with fever. Tianyou rushed back from Suzhou and saw that her mother had lost all breath and only had a slight warmth in her chest. The family prepared the coffin and put it into the coffin. They were extremely saddened by God. They prayed to the Great Master in White Clothes and recited the White Clothes Mantra 12,000 times, hoping to shorten his life by one century and extend his mother's life. They cried bitterly. The next day, my mother got up and asked for water. After a few days, she got better. It is said that when he died, he was taken away by two petty officials, passed by the Land, City God and other departments, and then to Dongyue Mansion. The prince said: "You have a son. I sincerely pray for you and rely on the power of the great minister to spare your death." He ordered the officials to take him out and put him back. From then on, Tianyou persuaded her mother to cultivate pure karma, and the old lady began to eat vegetarian food. She counted Buddha beads three times a day, recited the names of Western Buddhas, and dedicate herself to the Pure Land. Twelve years later, at the age of seventy-six, I got up in the morning on September 15th and said to Tianyou: "I'm leaving, and I can call my relatives to say goodbye.
"After three days, I got up from sitting, took a shower and changed my clothes, then lay down and passed away. God blessed me with my maternal aunt Xu, who also ate vegetarian food and chanted Buddha's name at home, but she couldn't concentrate. God blessed me and invited her home to teach her to let go. Wan Yuan devoted herself to chanting Buddha's name. Xu was sixty-five years old at that time. From March to June, she prayed to Tianyou without interruption. Tianyou was surprised and asked why. Xu said, "I am alive." For more than sixty years, I have not found a single day of happiness in my dreams. Since you guided me to recite Buddha's name, I recite it in the morning, but suddenly it's night. I read it at night, and suddenly it was morning. How can the peace and happiness in this world be compared? I wouldn’t be like this if it weren’t for your persuasion, so I worship you. Tianyou therefore praised her for the majesty of the Paradise, and said: "As long as you are single-minded, the holy realm will appear naturally. When the holy realm appears, don't be attached." "Another three months later, while I was sitting in meditation at night, I suddenly saw a golden lotus flower appear in front of me, and then turned into hundreds of thousands of billions, emerging one after another, rising up into the sky, shining brightly. Later, my sister fell ill and died, so I gave up writing poems and never mentioned it again. As a result of my past asceticism, I made a great vow to realize the Dharma Endurance of Inanimation. I personally copied this sutra, "Vajra", "Amitabha" and other sutras with correct writing style, and continued to recite the Western Buddha's name every day. "Ashamed Chanting" contains dozens of poems, mostly in plain language. After getting married, I would tell my family about the Dharma about suffering, emptiness, and impermanence every day. I would get up early and continue to recite the "Lotus", "Surangama" and "Hua Hua". "Yan" and other Mahayana sutras, my faith and understanding are more sharp. In the autumn of that year, he composed ten poems in retreat. Now, as soon as the news is released, I return to Lianbang Ji's first channel. The second is: "It turns out that there is no reality or emptiness, and there is nothing left to discuss about Taoism and Zen." The plum blossoms bloom after the snow in the former village, revealing the spring scenery that cannot be concealed. In the spring of the forty-ninth year, some Western masters came to the altar to preach the Pure Land Dharma to the Buddhist disciples. One day, layman Erlin went to ask where his former teachers and friends were born. Each of them answered that someone was born in the Tusita Heaven, and someone was in the category of blessings. The four people who were born in the Pure Land were Xiangshan. The three masters, Old Man (named Shiding), Luting (named Jihui), and Shiyuan (named Fo'an), and Shen Jingfu (named Bing) (the above four people, details are in the "First Edition of the Records of Sages") finally asked about Tao. Tao Shi, the great scholar said: "Tao Shi was born in the western border area. Soon, Mr. Tao came and wrote a poem: "When the rain breaks, there are many fragrant grasses on the steps, and news has been flowing for five years." There are traces of smoke and clouds in the cave, and the wind can let the guests pass by. Then he said to everyone: "If you want to return to bliss, you must have a heart of gold and iron." If the outside is not polluted by the six dusts and the inside is not imprisoned by the seven emotions, then the lotus will appear in the mud. One Buddha's name is one light, and one thousand Buddha's names is one thousand lights. Light comes from within, not from outside, because it has no form. Amitabha Buddha appears in front of each of you everywhere. If there is even the slightest barrier, this light cannot appear. The mind of reciting the name of Buddha must be constantly aware of it, so that it can have unyielding thoughts. Only when you recite the Buddha's name with compassion can you make the supreme vow. Only when the voices of the heart are harmonious and the light shines everywhere, there is a Buddha everywhere, and only by chanting the Buddha's name at all times can one succeed. The Buddha's name is immeasurable. You must know that there is immeasurable wisdom, immeasurable supernatural power, immeasurable compassion, and immeasurable acceptance. If you don't have the immeasurable intention, how can you see the master's true form with your own eyes? It's sad, all living beings, if your desires are not eliminated, your roots are getting worse and worse. The Buddha is looking at you, what can you do? Go and recite the Buddha's name quickly. A month later, layman Erlin went again and wrote to Tao: "I heard that you can be reborn in the Pure Land and live up to your life's aspirations. It's great." But in Luotaishan, Zhu Zhongjun’s grand vow of purity and vegetarianism is very rare, and he is still bound by blessings.
But you don’t have all the precepts and are not yet familiar with the skills, but you can go straight to the Pure Land without any obstacles. Why is this? What will the situation be like when you die? How will you enjoy it after death? How will you learn? Have you seen the Buddha? You have already boarded the board. Are you not going to relinquish your status? Please explain it in detail, so that people who hear it will have a heart of admiration and diligence. This is also the original wish to save people. "The master came that day and reported back: "I just came from Xinghua, the western border area, the month before last, so Mrs. Tao can follow me here, but today she can't come. Although her daily martial arts skills are not as good as those of Luo Taishan's generation. But my dying thoughts were far better than Luotai Mountain, so I sensed Guanyin Bodhisattva’s guidance. Finally, when he saw the golden lotus flower, he felt that he had become a man and had arrived in the Western World of Seven Treasures, where he had natural food and clothing. Although they cannot see the Buddha, the great Bodhisattvas in the heavens have preached the Dharma for the second time. Those who are diligent will gradually reach the ninth level, and those who are lazy will have a life span of 500 years. A hundred years in the Saha world are only one day in the borderlands. Tao has been very diligent since his death. In the future, he will be able to reach the upper and lower realms. At that time, he will still need two thousand years in the Saha world. "That great master, whose name is Silent Root, has participated in the Dharma assembly such as "Infinite Life", "Vimalakirti" and other sutras. How long he has attained fruition is unknown. He led his relatives to join the party, go down to the gardener's kitchen, and serve as maids, and together he converted to the Dharma. There were more than ten people who ate vegetarian food and cultivated pure karma. Later, I visited Wenxue Dinggong and heard the keynote of "This is the Buddha". At the age of thirty-four, I returned to Luting to receive the Bodhisattva vows and recited the Brahma Net Sutra. She was worried about not having enough blood on her tongue when she was writing the Lotus Sutra and the Amitabha Sutra. A monk told her to take it at 2 o'clock in the afternoon before she could finish it. She originally had liver disease and got sick every autumn. At this time, the blood was dry. When she was young, her illness became more serious. Someone advised her to take nourishment. Wang said: "I have many opportunities to learn Taoism here. It is my wish to be able to give up the sambhogakaya quickly and see the Buddha and listen to the Dharma. What else do I want?" "In November of the forty-ninth year of Qianlong's reign, he contracted dysentery and stayed in bed for several days, meditating silently. On the tenth day of the lunar month, he said to the waiter: "Tomorrow I will go to the West." When asked what rank he was in, he replied: " The next day, Mrs. Fang came to greet her, and Mrs. Wang said, "It's great that you are here. You can bathe me." After bathing, he sat cross-legged and after a while, asked to recite the Buddha's name together. At noon, he passed away with his palms together, and the room was filled with sandalwood incense. He was thirty-eight years old. Three years later, a daughter from the same hometown and neighbor died of illness. She woke up at the third watch and said, "I went to the palace of Pluto. He ordered the ghost soldiers to get hammers to hit her. Suddenly, he saw a man coming from the west to teach in the underworld. He was upright and clean, and there was no one like him in the world. He was Li Jiamu (Wang Nianqiao). (Shi) Ah. Pluto kneels down to greet you and calls you a Bodhisattva. Li Jiamu ordered me to travel around and watch the sufferings of hell. He also said that I would like to go to the Pure Land in the West. When the time comes, Pluto ordered me to be sent back in a sedan chair. So I woke up." The next day, he recovered from his illness.
