In late May, 2008, at the invitation of the "Famous Forum" of Wuhan Library, I went to Jiangcheng to give a lecture on "Ecological Civilization". After the lecture, I met the members of Wuhan Friends of Nature Group. Xu Dapeng, the person in charge, talks about wetland protection. Xu teacher suggested that I expand the content of wetland culture in the lecture on ecological civilization and form a special lecture. He is responsible for contacting WWF in Hubei and the wetland reserve in the Yangtze River basin, and we have jointly developed the wetland culture and environment.
At the beginning of July 2008, the project named "Wetland Pioneer" was launched quickly. According to xu teacher's arrangement, I set foot on the night train from Beijing to Hankou and arrived in Wuhan on July 6th. In the morning, I had my first lesson on wetland culture in Li Huazhong Primary School. Can you tell the children about the wetland culture, and they are children in the third grade of primary school? I tried my best to show my children many classic children's songs, such as clapping songs, one-man shows, and Luo's Goose. I interacted with them in Echo, and the first stop was successful. Choosing to give a lecture on wetlands in this school also has a special significance, that is, there is the only primary school wetland education museum in China. A little girl, the deputy curator of the Wetland Museum, personally explained it to me. I told her that I, like her, was also the deputy curator.
In the afternoon, xu teacher and I took a long-distance bus from Wuhan to Honghu, and arrived in Honghu, a famous city in China, at night.
"Hong Hushui, waves, waves, waves ..." This is a song that almost our generations will hum. Therefore, Honghu Lake has become a place I have been longing for for for a long time. I finally made it today and got off the long-distance bus. Xu teacher specially arranged to stay in a hotel by the Yangtze River so as to enjoy the river view at any time. When we boarded the levee, we had a panoramic view of the smoky Yangtze River and walked along it. Except for a few large ships moored, there are almost no ships sailing in the distance, and the buildings and barges of Honghu Port have also been turned into dining places. With the development of land transportation, this once prosperous wharf has become increasingly desolate. Not far away, he came to a place called Lotus Square, which was extremely deep and open. Just when he was puzzled by this lotus square, but there was no lotus, Huo Ran saw the promenade on the side of the square: the lotus poetry promenade. Looking closely, I was immediately attracted by the overwhelming poems about lotus written by the ancients. Thousands of poems about lotus flowers have been collected here, which are covered with four long corridors, dazzling and proud, ranking first in the world. I think this square should be called "Lotus Culture Square".
My lecture on this trip is about wetland culture, and we are building a wetland promenade in Elk Garden, so I really appreciate this lotus poem promenade with rich cultural connotations, and even have a sigh that "there is no scenery in front of me, with Cui Haoshi on it". I don't think I came to Honghu to give a lecture, but obviously I came to learn from it. This is also the feeling I have given lectures in various places in recent years. Everywhere I went, I was studying, studying in thousands of books and taking Wan Li Road. Sure enough, Honghu Education Bureau informed us that the lecture task here was cancelled due to the arrangement error. To put it simply, I will easily visit and study in Honghu Lake.
Honghu Lake is named after the lake, so we went to Honghu Lake to visit Honghu Lake. Under the arrangement and company of Director Yan of Honghu Wetland Protection Bureau, the next morning, we took a 90-horsepower speedboat from Xindi Wharf bordering the Yangtze River and sailed into Honghu Great Lakes. Along the way, we cut the waves, set off white waves, left small fishing boats and yachts carrying tourists behind, and even splashed water on tourists. Just when I was full of apologies for our speeding, the article of the Wetland Bureau explained that our patrol boat must have the ability to travel at high speed, otherwise it would be impossible to catch up with and stop the illegal operators on the water.
Lotus leaves will not turn green the next day, and lotus flowers are particularly bright red in the sun. The boat crossed the waterway sandwiched by lotus seeds and quickly entered the endless lake. The lake is crystal clear, seagulls and herons are flying. Just when I was amazed at the ecological harmony and the vastness of Honghu Lake, Director Yan said frankly: A few years ago, Honghu Lake was not like this. The purse seine is spread all over the lake area, just like a maze. It is wantonly exploited, excessively polluted and exhausted natural resources, which makes Honghu Lake on the verge of fishing. Only in this way can we have the beautiful scenery of Honghu Lake and the wetland food that we can enjoy today-lotus, lotus root, fish and shrimp.
Louis Lane and Honghu Lake

Visiting Honghu City, I came across a quaint wooden two-story building: ulm cathedral. When I visited New Zealand a few years ago, I learned something about Louis Alley at the Christchurch Museum in the South Island of New Zealand. The year before last, I went to Beijing Peili School (originally built in Shandan, Gansu), a project supported by Mr. rewi alley all his life, and gave a speech on the Green Olympics. Unfortunately, ulm cathedral, who went to the riverside twice in a row, was turned away, but xu teacher was wily and suggested going to Honghu Library, also known as rewi alley Library.
The first and second floors of the three-story Honghu Library have been used for other purposes. Although the third floor played the role of a library, there were only three women on duty in the empty library, and no readers were seen. They said that the curator was on a business trip and could not provide information about rewi alley. Just when we regret the long journey, we may get nothing. One of them, Ms. He, resolutely offered to help us contact the museum. After several phone calls, we finally found the person who managed the former residence, so Ms. He enthusiastically took us to the former residence. At this time, the wooden door of the former residence was wide open, and the two ladies were waiting here. We finally went in and realized our desire to visit our former residence.
New Zealander rewi alley (1897,12,2-1987,12,27) is an old friend of the people of China. He came to Shanghai, China on 1927 and has lived in China ever since. As a foreigner, he devoted his life to publicizing and introducing China to the international community. He published and translated a large number of China's poems and wrote a large number of books about China, reaching 66 books. Make outstanding contributions to China-Singapore friendship.
Surprisingly, rewi alley has an indissoluble bond with Honghu Lake. As early as 1932, he went upstream along the Yangtze River to Honghu for disaster relief, and sent a lot of food, cloth and medicinal materials to the Soviet troops and people in Honghu. He stayed in the new embankment of Honghu Lake for 7 days. At that time, the underground party in China arranged for him to live in an underground material transfer station, which was the location of his former residence. Later, he went to Yan 'an twice and was received by Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and others. Therefore, he made outstanding contributions to the liberation of the China revolution and was praised by Deng Xiaoping as a "great internationalist fighter". Rewi alley visited Honghu Lake five times and forged a profound friendship with the people of Honghu Lake.
From Ms. He, we also see the bold spirit and simple and noble character of Honghu people.
Unfortunately, on the streets of Honghu, where there are many shops, there is hardly any publicity about the famous battle course of Honghu Red Guards, especially about the revolutionary spirit of western Hunan and Hubei and the revolutionary experience of "Louis Lane". The business atmosphere of a thousand cities has marginalized these unique local cultural wealth. At least, these unique resources, which can be used as highlights of tourism propaganda, have not attracted enough attention and prominence from Honghu people. People have poor brains, and those who cry are also people who ignore science, education and culture, aren't they? Even the lecture we delivered to the door was put aside, and everyone was very busy. What are you up to? Up and down, people spend their time rubbing hemp and drinking instead of studying. While local brands are so idle, they complain about the slow economic and social development, which is worth pondering. Honghu spirit needs to be carried forward urgently. When I visited ulm cathedral, I found that when he returned to Qujiawan, Honghu, I remembered the poem "Honghu Spirit" written in the revolutionary base area of the Soviet area, and copied it here:
The old soldiers of the people have passed away,
But their creative spirit still exists in future generations.
Whenever people encounter great difficulties,
And if you win, everyone will see the spirit of Honghu Lake again.
……
Think about how to cultivate more people who are loyal to the spirit of Honghu Lake.
Make it a part of their body and mind,
And integrate them into all their work.
