History is like a brilliant book of poetry. When it is spread out, the light shines directly into the heart; when you close it, you should put a bookmark at the pause of reading?
Facing the Chongqing Great Hall of the People, walk up a few hundred meters from the small road on the right and you will come to a fork in the road. In the early years, there were several large jujube trees growing here. As the name suggests, this place was called Zaozi Lanya.
Nowadays, the date tree is nowhere to be found, only its name remains.
On the left side of the pass of Zaozi Lanya, there is a small hill among several residential buildings from the 1980s and 1990s.
There is a green brick wall meandering upward along the mountain. The top of the wall is decorated with black tiles, giving you a sense of simplicity and tranquility. Winding up the bluestone steps at your feet is like asking a strange book word for word. A hint of mystery tempts people to read through it. Although the desire to find out is not strong, it neither increases nor decreases. After all, exist.
Going up close, a small courtyard full of the style of the Republic of China is in front of you.
No. 29, Ma On Shan
This is Ma On Shan. A place that was once turbulent in Chongqing’s history.
It is named after its terrain of being low in the middle and high at both ends.
At the beginning of the last century, due to urban expansion, houses began to be built here, and it was originally named Youzhuang.
In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, part of the Ma'anshan mountain was excavated for the construction of the Chongqing People's Great Hall, so the place name still exists but the terrain is no longer there.
Looking back, its development history is not complicated. In the 1930s, the manager of Chongqing Jiuyu Bank bought this place and built three small buildings from top to bottom, named Liangzhuang, Xiaodi and Houlu after his three sons.
Once upon a time Liangzhuang
It is this small courtyard that once had a different richness in the history of Chongqing. It is a page of exquisite bookmarks sandwiched between past and present. From this, you will realize a period of passionate love that cannot be sealed away.
II
After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, talents and resources across the country were transferred to Chongqing. In 1938, Liangzhuang welcomed its new owner, Mr. Shen Junru with a beautiful beard. He loved stones all his life and called his living room "Stone House".
Shen Junru’s status in contemporary Chinese history goes without saying. He was a Jinshi in the former Qing Dynasty and the leader of the "Seven Gentlemen". During the Anti-Japanese War, he made great contributions to the United Front and was a "splendid example" for all patriotic intellectuals.
Because Shen Junru lived in Ma'anshan, it became very lively and became the high ground of Chongqing's political and cultural atmosphere at that time. There are scholars who talk and laugh, but there are no white people in the world? This is a true portrayal of Ma'anshan at that time. A group of people who are concerned about the country and the people come and go in Ma'anshan. A group of knowledgeable friends are harmonious but different. The collision and communication here not only create the spark of friendship, but also the future of the country and the glory of culture.

What happened in this small place deeply affected the entire process of China’s anti-fascist war, and even the entire anti-fascist war in Asia. situation.
Ma'anshan has become the most influential place in Chongqing at that time.
三
In the autumn of 1940, a man named Shen Yanbing moved to Ma'anshan. He didn't like to go out and wrote in his house every day.
He did not live here for long. In March 1941, he left Chongqing for Hong Kong.
But here he wrote the popular "Landscape Talk". At this point, you must know who he is, he is a contradiction.
The Contradiction of Writing in Chongqing Apartment
In just a few months in Chongqing, Contradiction created "Odd Notes in the Fog", "Home and Liberation", "Journey" "Seeing and Hearing", "Hearing and Hearing" and many other works.
Contradictory words are indispensable literary nourishment in the history of our modern literature, and they are also words that bear witness to our youth.
Standing in Ma'anshan, I remembered the Chinese teacher's high-spirited recitation of "Landscape Talk" in class, and it suddenly seemed like a dream, and the place where this dream sprouted and grew was at my feet. A strange and mysterious feeling arises spontaneously.
Four
The story that happened in Ma'anshan is obviously more than that.
During the Anti-Japanese War, from Yichang to Chongqing, along the Yangtze River, observation posts were set up on high ground to keep an eye on the movement of Japanese aircraft. Once enemy conditions were discovered, they would immediately notify the Chongqing air defense department by telegram, and then, in Chongqing's higher position, Red balloons were raised from high places to inform citizens of the city to take shelter. Ma On Shan is one of the places where red balloons are raised. This may be another form of beacon tower. The rising red balloon was like a red sun, lighting up the dawn of victory in the Anti-Japanese War.
my country's famous publisher Zou Taofen moved the Sanlian Bookstore near Ma'anshan, adding a cultural and progressive atmosphere to the place.
But Ma'anshan fell into silence for a long time, until today.
The transformed night view of Ma'anshan
In 2016, Ma'anshan became one of the key projects of the 28 traditional style areas in Chongqing and the 10 traditional style areas in Yuzhong District. It has been repaired and upgraded in accordance with the standards of "Urban Humanities Hall". Protecting cultural relics, continuing cultural context, and inheriting culture? It is not an empty talk. In my eyes, Ma'anshan has a different cultural temperament.
Of course, if we say fashion, that’s not a misunderstanding.
I'm amazed at how well people's design and construction here combine the past and present. Vividly embedding history into today's construction methods, the most critical thing is to achieve a comfortable balance in the demanding interaction between vision and soul.
This is the memory of Chongqing, the cultural origin of the mountain city, and the spiritual hometown of Chongqing people. It is also the spiritual magnanimity of the mother city of Chongqing and the inclusiveness of the humanities of Chongqing.
Cultural Ma'anshan
I lingered in this deserted and solemn place with long lasting charm, reading the old times from the newly laid blue bricks.
Walking slowly, the small buildings where masters once stood in front of the windows have been repaired. Along the way, there are black tiles and blue bricks, a vermilion gate, a patio that connects to the courtyard, a long and narrow laneway running through it, and old buildings with stone steps and blue tiles and red walls dotted among them. The light and shadow are projected on the bluestone through the towering yellow jujube trees. The strong tree roots burst out of the soil and climb up the stone wall, as if they are tightly grasping the flowing time?
As I walked, I felt like I was walking on the stone wall. Flip through a large, heavy book. And if there are yellow fruit leaves falling, just pick them up and make them a bookmark for this cultural journey; just like this place, like a bookmark of history, it is convenient for me to use it to remember at any time when I recall.
