Ancient poems describing ordinary life

Back to the Garden, Part III

Eastern Jin Dynasty: Tao Yuanming

I planted beans at the foot of Nanshan, and the weeds in the field were covered with peas.

Get up early in the morning to get rid of weeds, and come back with hoes in the moonlight at night.

The narrow path covered with vegetation, the night dew wet my clothes.

It's not a pity to get wet, but I hope it won't be against my will.

This poem is a description of the smallest things in daily life, but the poet writes it very vividly and interestingly. At the same time, we can see the poet's most leisurely life, and even describe the little things in daily life very beautifully. This is the most touching part of this poem, and when we read such works, we can feel the poet's aesthetic and quiet heart, which is probably only as wise as Tao Yuanming.

Tao Yuanming's temperament and attitude towards life are also places we should learn from, and from most of his works, we also feel the poet's deep affection, especially his first poem "Returning to the Garden", which is extremely ordinary and completely trivial. But through this description of the poet, this poem is full of poetry and catchy to read.

Tao Yuanming's first manuscript describes his life at that time, and he is also very satisfied with this life. It is this sense of satisfaction that made him write such a beautiful work, "beans are planted at the foot of Nanshan, and the grass is full of beans and seedlings are sparse." Every spring, I plant beans at the foot of Nanshan Mountain, but these planted beans and bean sprouts are sparse, but the grass around them grows taller than the bean sprouts. Short sentences are really common, but they are amazing to read.
