(1) original meaning. Words of advice and warning. The Book of Pan Geng: "When looking at the people, think more about proverbs." Zeng Yungan is reading: "Proverbs are also words of advice."
(2) An ancient style aimed at punishing others or oneself. The original meaning is motto, morality and exhortation. Such as Jizhou Town written by Yang Xiong in the Western Han Dynasty and Nvshi Town written by Zhang Hua in the Western Jin Dynasty.
In the 6th century BC, ancient Greek proverb poets compiled ancient sayings into a collection of proverbs. Therefore, all poems that involve ethical issues in abstinence, such as "exhortation poems" in the Bible, Latin exhortation poems, Icelandic ancient poems, old English epigram poems, etc., are also collectively called proverbs poems.
