Third, appreciate the beauty of poetry, music, painting and architecture.
Fourth, reading guidance runs through the whole poetry teaching, cultivating students' interest and ability in reading poetry.
[Difficulties and key analysis]
1. What does "stagnant water" symbolize?
There are generally three views on the poem "Dead Water" from creation and publication to collection and publication.
The first point of view: From the time of its creation, Dead Water is a symbol of American society.
The second view: Judging from the publication time of Dead Water, Dead Water symbolizes the Beiyang government.
The third view: Since the publication of the poetry collection "Dead Water", "Dead Water" symbolizes the dark reality of China.
Second, how to understand the role of image concepts such as "Emerald", "Peach Blossom", "Rocky" and "Xia Yun" in poetry?
Analysis: The poet created an ironic atmosphere and exposed and criticized ugliness and filth. Poets use gorgeous words such as "Emerald", "Peach Blossom", "Rocky" and "Xia Yun" to describe a stagnant pool, which makes ugliness beautiful. Beauty and ugliness interweave and contrast, producing novel and unique expression effect. The more beauty and ugliness are written, the more aggressive they are, which makes readers reflect on the true feelings that the poet wants to express and increases the charm of thinking.

Introduction, author's brief introduction.
Wen Yiduo (1899— 1946), formerly known as Wen Jiahua. Xishui people in Hubei. China is a famous modern poet, scholar and democracy fighter. When I was a child, I liked classical poetry and art. 19 13 was admitted to Tsinghua University, 1922 went to the United States to study painting and literature after graduation. 1923 published a collection of poems, Red Candle. From 65438 to 0925, he returned to China and worked as a professor in Beijing Institute of Art, Wuhan University, Qingdao University and Tsinghua University. 1928 published the second collection of poems, Dead Water. 1July 5, 946, 15 was killed by a Kuomintang spy and wrote an immortal poem of patriotism with his own blood. Wen Yiduo's poems show his hatred for imperialism and reactionary warlords, express his deep concern for the fate of the motherland and the people, and are full of strong patriotism. In art, Wen Yiduo's poems have unique imagination, orderly structure, neat form and harmonious syllables, and have high artistic achievements.
Second, the first reading of "Dead Water", the overall impression.
Leading questions (only thinking, no need to answer):
1 Tell me how you feel about reading this poem.
Tell me, when reading this poem, what picture did you think of?
What kind of emotion do you think the author wants to express?
It is not difficult for students to feel the above problems according to their own life experience.
Let the students grasp the main idea of the poem on the basis of reciting the works repeatedly.
The whole poem has five stanzas.
1 section always writes about the stagnant water in this ditch. The wind can't move, rot and dull, and it has no vitality and vitality. This is its characteristic. The coolness makes it rot completely and makes the ugliness more obvious.
The second section, directly following the third and fourth sentences of 1, mainly describes the filth and filth of stagnant water statically from the aspect of color.
These four sentences are similar to irony, regarding "Emerald", "Peach Blossom", "Rocky" and "Xia Yun" as the beauty of stagnant water written on the front.
The third section describes the decay and deterioration of stagnant water dynamically. The moldy stagnant water is "full of pearl-like foam", and those rancid products-"water drops" are like a duck to water, giving out complacent "laughter", similar to those "flower mosquitoes" who take the opportunity to make trouble and enjoy this "green wine in the ditch".
The fourth quarter, the stillness of stagnant water, to move against static. With the song of "Frog", the poet effectively highlights the silence of stagnant water, as if listening to birds in an empty mountain.
In the fifth section, in short, the poet created a series of ugly images around stagnant water, hiding hateful feelings behind irony.
Third, read the stagnant water, explore the meaning of images, understand the poet's feelings, and analyze the "three beauties" of poetry.
Discussion: How do you think reading aloud can express the poet's feelings? Tell me why.
Clarity: appreciate the emotion, pressure and rhythm of the image.
(A) analysis of image characteristics, explore the image meaning.
Guiding questions:
1 where is the "despair" of stagnant water?
Students can talk about it according to some specific images in the poem, and it is enough to be reasonable. )
The poet described the stagnant water like this: a pool of green jade wine, red peach blossoms, shining Luo Qi and brilliant clouds, full of pearls, singing. The poet reveals the inside of the stagnant water like this: there are some "broken copper and iron" and "leftovers", and these filthy things are moldy and fermented here; Emerald is the green of broken copper and iron, peach blossom is the rust of broken iron, it is the greasy light, Xia Yun is the mold, green wine is the stinky water, and pearls are the foam on the stinky water. It can be seen that the "beauty" of stagnant water is full of filth and musty smell of garbage, and the common characteristics of these images are despair and lifelessness.
2 How to express this "despair"? (Manipulation analysis)
Analysis: The poet created an ironic atmosphere and exposed and criticized ugliness and filth. The poet described the stagnant water in this ditch with gorgeous words such as "Emerald", "Peach Blossom", "Rocky" and "Xia Yun", and described ugliness beautifully. Beauty and ugliness interweave and contrast, producing novel and unique expression effect. The more beauty and ugliness are written, the more aggressive they are, which makes readers reflect on the poet's true feelings and increases the charm of thinking.
3 Explore the image meaning.
Image is greater than thought, especially poetry. Image is the product of the poet's imagination, and how to understand the image in the poem depends on the imagination of the reciter. A person's age, position, life experience and ideological tendency will all affect his aesthetic taste. What do you think stagnant water symbolizes?
How to understand the meaning of the image of "stagnant water", don't force unity. It can be specific to a stinking ditch, or it can be abstracted to the philosophy of extremes meet. It symbolizes China during the dark reign of the Northern Warlords, or China during the reactionary rule of the Kuomintang, or the seemingly extremely prosperous United States, or even the whole world. Students should relate it and allow them to have different opinions. Let the students grasp the image in the poem, recreate the imagination and create the artistic conception of the poem in their hearts. So as to appreciate the profound symbolic image formed by the poet through thinking. )
Projection:
Three views on symbolic meaning:
The first point of view: From the time of its creation, Dead Water is a symbol of American society.
At the back of this poem, the department has a creation time: "1April 925". This is the night before Mr. Wen Yiduo, who is studying in Chicago, USA, prepares to return home early. During his stay in the United States, Mr. Wen's mood has two prominent aspects: first, he was angry and disgusted with the decay and evil of American society under the cover of prosperity because of racial discrimination in the United States; One is the infinite love and yearning for one's motherland. Under the control of this emotion, he wrote many poems full of patriotic and anti-imperialist passion, such as The Lonely Goose, Sunling, Yi Ju and so on. This patriotic and anti-imperialist passion is more concentrated in the poems he wrote on the eve of his return to China, such as Laundry Song, Song of Seven Sons, Wake Up, Dead Water and so on. As the poet said, these poems are "unfair voices shouted because of the extravagance and waste of imperialism for many years". Beneath the gorgeous appearance is filth and sin. Isn't this "stagnant water" the truest portrayal of American society?
The second view: Judging from the publication time of Dead Water, Dead Water symbolizes the Beiyang government.
1926 March 18 is what Lu Xun called "the darkest day since the Republic of China". Duan Beiyang government massacred patriotic students petitioning, creating a "March 18th" tragedy that shocked China and foreign countries. Mr Wen Yiduo was outraged and supported the patriotic struggle of students. He chose to publish "Dead Water" at this time just to express his deep hatred for the Beiyang government: this Beiyang government is already "a pool of stagnant water" and "this is definitely not the beauty", so let it go to hell; It is better to let ugliness cultivate. The attitude is so decisive and fierce!
The third view: Since the publication of the poetry collection "Dead Water", "Dead Water" symbolizes the dark reality of China.
1927, the vigorous Great Revolution failed. Mr. Wen Yiduo's good hopes for the motherland were dashed. He ended his career as a poet and entered the scholar library. 1928, he edited and published his second collection of poems, Dead Water, as a farewell poem. He personally designed the front and back covers of the poems, using a whole set of black paper, except that there is a small gold label on the top of the cover with the title and author written on it. The whole cover and back cover exude a melancholy and depressing atmosphere. When people see this black poetry collection named after "stagnant water", the poem "This is a desperate stagnant water" will come to mind. At this time, the poem "Dead Water" and the book "Dead Water" have another meaning. By this time, in Mr. Wen Yiduo's mind, "stagnant water" symbolized the dark reality of China, expressed the poet's anger and disappointment at this reality, and also showed his uncooperative attitude with the reactionary rulers.
Abstract: Through the multi-angle and multi-level composition of the symbolic image of "stagnant water", this poem exposes and satirizes the corrupt society and expresses the poet's despair, indignation and deep patriotic feelings towards the ugly reality.
(2) Establish stress, intonation and tone. Students read poems according to their own understanding and explain the reasons for reading poems in this way.
Example 1:
This is a backwater of despair,
The breeze doesn't move at all.
Why don't you throw more rubbish,
Throw out your leftovers.
("Despair" and "half a minute" should be re-emphasized, emphasizing the poet's subjective feelings, and also writing the characteristics of filth, stagnation, complete loss of vitality and hopelessness, even if the breeze blows, it will be lifeless. The symbolic meaning of the "breeze" here is not difficult to understand; "Not as good as" and "indifferent" are the portrayal of the poet's worried and angry mood, so we should read the decisive tone. )
Example 2:
Maybe copper will turn green into jade,
A few petals of peach blossoms are embroidered on the tin can;
Let greasy weave a layer of Luo Qi,
Mold steamed some clouds for him.
("Maybe" is a hypothesis, and there can be a psychological pause. Dynamic words such as "green" and "embroidery" should be emphasized. Here, the technique of "irony" is used, the tone should be tortuous, and the reading should have an ironic tone. )
Example 3:
A desperate backwater ditch,
And a little image.
If frogs can't stand loneliness,
Dead water again. It is singing.
("then" refers to the above, to emphasize. Other treatments are the same as in Example 2. )
Example 4:
This is a backwater of despair,
This is definitely not the beauty,
Why don't we leave it to ugliness to cultivate,
Look at the world he created.
On the basis of the first four sentences of cynicism, the poet couldn't help getting angry and exposed the true face of "stagnant water" There is no hope for a poet to see through this stagnant water. Only by creating a new world can he find beauty. The sentence "This is a backwater of despair" is not a simple repetition. Compared with 1 section, the mood changes should be read more actively. "Absolutely not" should be stressed. "It is better to leave it to ugliness to cultivate and see what world it has created." How to understand "ugliness" has been debated for decades. Mr. Zhu Ziqing quoted these four sentences in the preface of Wen Yiduo's Complete Works. He believes that "this is not a tribute to the flower of evil, but simply to make ugliness full of evil, and there is hope in despair". Cang Kejia disagreed with this statement, and thought that "ugliness should be interpreted as the opposite of dark reality, that is, revolution". What is the explanation of "ugliness"? Allow students to proceed from the reality of the work and have different opinions. )
The above processing should be completed in the reading discussion between teachers and students, so that students can deepen their understanding in reading and show their understanding in reading. Understanding and appreciation of some "points" can be interspersed among them.
(3) Read "Dead Water" for the third time, analyze the characteristics of sentence patterns and appreciate the "three beauties"-music beauty, painting beauty and architecture beauty.

Abstract: Dead Water is one of the representative works of new metrical poetry. Formally, the whole poem has five sections, each with four sentences and nine words, which are arranged very neatly, with internal changes and two syllables at the end; From the prosodic point of view, two or four sentences are foot rhyme, each sentence is changing, and it is very harmonious to read. Each line of poetry is dominated by four syllables. Due to the high harmony of internal rhythm, coupled with the strict double-line rhyme and the sound effect of one rhyme per verse, the rhythm of the whole poem is very distinct. B. Discuss "Why Wen Yiduo has changed so much". Think from Wen Yiduo's experience and historical background at that time.
3. The teacher introduced Wen Yiduo's experience before writing Dead Water: Wen Yiduo studied in Meiwei in 1922, and was discriminated against by ethnic groups in a foreign country, so he was more obsessed with his motherland. Yi Ju, which the students just read, is a poem of his time. Wen Yiduo lived in developed countries for three years. He went to anxious to return in 1925, so as soon as he set foot on the land of the motherland, he witnessed the domestic situation at that time-it can be said that it was devastated, poor and backward, and chaotic, as described in the praise. Compared with the United States at that time, there was a huge gap in his heart! Let's read his poem Discovery. Assign a boy to read Discovery, but let the students feel the feeling of hearing a lot at that time. Wen Yiduo's mood at that time was disappointed, painful and sad, as if he was suddenly thrown a pot of cold water on his face when he was full of blood. It was in this situation that he saw a smelly and dirty dead ditch. He was inspired by generate and "Dead Water" was born.
Students have time to read the stagnant water and then listen to the tape. Discuss the reading of this poem, and then arrange for a student to read it. Conclusion: To read this poem well, we need a concrete and in-depth analysis.

Symbolic meaning
In the first section, I always write about the stagnant water in this ditch. The wind can't move, rot and dull, and it has no vitality and vitality.
The second section mainly describes the dirtiness and dirtiness of stagnant water from the aspects of color, luster and static state. These four sentences are similar to irony. "Emerald", "Peach Blossom", "Rocky" and "Clouds" are considered as the beauty of still water written on the front.
The third section describes the decay and deterioration of stagnant water dynamically.
In the fourth quarter, the stillness of stagnant water is written in terms of dynamic resistance and static.
In the fifth section, the poet always creates a series of ugly images around stagnant water, filth and mildew, and hides hateful feelings behind irony.
1) Do it independently first, then communicate with the group, and finally communicate with the group representatives in class.
2) Remind the students: What do you find by linking the gorgeous words in the poem with the phrases that reveal the author's feelings?
Experience: The more beautiful the author describes "stagnant water", the stronger the disgust and despair he expresses. This is the artistic technique of irony.

2) Explore the other pole of ideological and emotional opposition in stagnant water.
Thinking, discussing and understanding: despair contains hope-hope for a brand-new and beautiful motherland; Denying the ugly reality is to pursue a better future; The extreme hatred for the decadent society at that time was a strong expression of love for the motherland! Mr Wen Yiduo's heart is not a backwater of despair. There is a living fire in stagnant water.
3) Read Wen Yiduo's letter to Cang Kejia in June 1943 1 1: "I only feel like an erupting volcano, and the fire is hurting me, but I can't burst my crust and radiate light and heat. Only a few friends who have been with me for a long time know that I have a fire, and I feel my fire in a stagnant pool. "
Question: "If Wen Yiduo writes about stagnant water like a volcano that doesn't erupt, when did his volcano erupt?" ? What gave him great explosive power of life? "
Contact the scene of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's democratic struggle in Kuomintang-controlled areas at that time and the scene of Wen Yiduo's last speech to feel the author's patriotic feelings.
