Ai Lvya [French]
My love, because you have attracted my desire.
You put your lips like stars in the whispering sky.
Your kiss on an active night
You hug my track.
Like fire, it symbolizes conquest.
My dream faces the world.
Bright and eternal
When you were away.
I dreamed that I was asleep. I dreamed that I had a dream.
(translated by Bai Fei)
Paul éluard (1895— 1952) is a famous French poet and social activist. One of the founders of Dadaism and Surrealism.
Ai Lvya was born in a merchant family in Saint-Denis. /kloc-when he was 0/6 years old, he dropped out of school because of lung disease and went to Switzerland for recuperation. During this period, I read literary works and learned to write poems. The first poem was published in 19 13. When World War I broke out, he was drafted into the army, seriously injured and went to the battlefield. During convalescence, the poetry collection Duty and Anxiety was published on 19 17, and Ode to Peace was published on 19 18. The following year, he accepted Dadaism and participated in editing Literature magazine. 1924 led a surrealist group with Brighton, Chen Lagong and others. In the same year, he published the first surreal poetry collection "Death and Immortality" and participated in the publication of the magazine "Surrealist Revolution". During World War II, he was re-enlisted in the army and used poetry as a weapon to carry out anti-fascist propaganda work, which greatly inspired the people's fighting spirit. His famous poem Freedom is widely circulated in France. After the war, he won the "Resistance Medal".
Some of Ai Lvya's poems show his aversion to war, some praise peace, some express the frustration, loneliness and depression of young people, and some sing about the love between men and women. His poetic style is full of artistic clarity, but the beauty of clarity is simple and simple, and his long lyric is based on real feelings. He is not only good at capturing daily scenes and human nature, but also exudes a strong flavor of life; He also exaggerates dreams and creates real artistic conception outside the objective world through intuition and illusion, that is, he himself said, "expressing our inner world and transforming the world of our dreams." Strange metaphors are often used in his poems to convey strange ideas and new images. On the one hand, it tries to break the rhythm of poetry, on the other hand, it tries to be neat through artistic means such as parallelism, which shows its ingenuity. Among all the surrealist poets, he had a great influence on several generations of poets between the two world wars. His main works are Beast and Man, Man and Beast (1924), The City of Pain (1926), Love and Poetry (1929) and Rose is All (1934). After the poet's death, the published collection of poems "Uninterrupted Poems Ⅱ" won the international peace prize.
As a love poem, "My Love ……" is as beautiful and charming as love itself, but it is confusing. At the beginning of the poem, "My love draws my desire because of you" tells the truth of my desire, without the obscurity of "she still hides half a face behind her guitar from us", and then draws a small red lip and two jade arms, as well as an "active night kiss", which makes people feel wonderful. In the field of love, this kind of physical love gives the tree of love a bright color, which makes the love described by the poet full of life and reality. It is not as civilized, spiritual and elegant as the love of medieval knights, but more natural, fiery and human, and closer to the ideal of human love. However, the poet's description of love desire is extremely difficult to be practical but not vulgar, gorgeous but not swaying, stretching but not extravagant. Although that little red lip conveyed all her love, it was cleverly embedded in the starry night sky by the poet, whispering like a star. Therefore, the fat leaves of that love tree will inspire the spirit of singing in the rain of love, and the place where the lips open is the "whisper" of the spirit and the dialogue of spiritual life. In this way, love can be sublimated in the mutual love of body and spirit. Through the elegant description of meat and his pen, the poet constructs a perfect and ideal love that blends with human spirit and flesh, making the whole poem full of delicious colors. What makes people feel more different is that the poet's brushwork and heart are not wandering in the plane painting without space. He used his surrealism to develop a higher and wider background-dream-for the love described in this poem and even in the whole poem. But it turns out that this incomparable love, love, affection and love all happen in dreams, and it is by no means the kind of negative understanding of life that "life is like a dream", but the realistic pursuit of love is transformed into a positive sublimation of ideal achievements; It is to push the individual's limited pursuit of beautiful love to the infinity beyond the individual, making it the yearning of all mankind; It is through dreams-ideals that the beautiful moments of personal feelings are fixed into eternity. Therefore, the poet admits with broad mind and tolerance: "My dream faces the world/is bright and eternal". Once this pursuit of beautiful love is sublimated into an ideal, transformed into infinity and fixed as eternity, the feeling of beautiful love is of course ever-present and ubiquitous, and naturally there are the last two sentences of the poem: "When you were away/I dreamed that I was asleep, I dreamed that I was dreaming", "Whispering" lips "and" Kissing at night ",all kinds of wonderful feelings have penetrated into the blood and are engraved. Whether you are by my side or not, I still have a dream as beautiful as love, a dream-like love. As for "I dreamt that I was asleep, I dreamt that I was dreaming", there was a sense of confusion when I first read it, but it was precisely this kind of logical confusion, which was actually a vague feeling. I couldn't tell whether I was awake or asleep, which truly and thoroughly conveyed the fusion of the poet's reality and ideal, and opened up a higher artistic space for poetic artistic conception.
My love is a typical surrealist poem. Surrealism emphasizes "developing the power of dreams and assumptions that are not practical" and "trust is another transcendental existence". "My love ..." It is the power of dreams that injects eternal soul into the instant love feeling in reality. Surrealism likes to outline a simple picture with incoherent lines, but to see through and explore the potential landscape through several lines. This poem outlines the outline of love with two lips and a jade arm, and then embellishes this sketch into the blue sky of stars and dreams, so that the human body will realize the richness of love.
