Petofi Sandor (1823-1849) was a famous Hungarian patriot and outstanding nationalist in the 19th century poet. He joined the army and traveled on the battlefield, holding a halberd in one hand and wielding a brush in the other. As a warrior and a poet, he wrote more than 800 short lyric poems and 8 long narrative poems in his short and glorious life. His poems are a battle cry for freedom and love for the motherland, burning with hope and ideals.
