Why did poets generally fall into the predicament of poetry creation at the turn of the forties and fifties?

First of all, it concerns how to define a poet. There are two kinds of poets, the first is the traditional school of poetry, which mainly writes ancient poems, and the second is the modernist school, which mainly writes modern poems.

Then, we analyzed the reasons why China poets fell into creative difficulties in the middle of the 20th century. As we all know, the rise of modern poetry was after the May 4th Movement, so we will not mention it for the time being. Ancient poetry pays attention to the smooth rhyme and is very strict. From the middle of19th century, China began to fall into the situation of internal troubles and foreign invasion. Because the creation of classical poetry needs a very good cultural background, under the historical situation at that time, the domestic atmosphere gradually conformed to the western society, and the traditional cultural education was greatly impacted. The problem that most scholars in China think about is how to get rich, which forms an atmosphere of criticizing reality and reforming social status quo. This further inhibited the development of ancient poetry. In the forties and fifties of the 20th century, the older generation of writers died, but the new generation of writers were influenced by the social situation (including the war, including the academic atmosphere at that time) and gradually developed into social documentary literature focusing on revealing reality. This led to the decline in the number and quality of ancient poetry poets in the 1940s and 1950s. China's classical poetry fell into an era of disjointed creation of ancient poetry.
