The 87th edition of A Dream of Red Mansions is the first cast in China to select actors through auditions. It published the news of the sea election in magazines and set up an office to receive letters of recommendation from all over the country.
Chen accidentally saw this news, so he sent a letter of recommendation to the crew, attached a photo of himself at that time, and copied a poem "I am catkin" published in "Young Poet" on the back of the photo.
When choosing actors, director Wang Fulin set two criteria for Lin Daiyu, one is to look like the ancients, and the other is to be talented.
After reading Chen's letters of recommendation, photos and poems, Wang Fulin thinks that Chen meets these two standards. Later, she said in an interview: "Lin Daiyu must be a poet. At that time, there were too few 18-year-olds who could write poems. It must be that smell. This kind of performance is impossible. "
So, what did Chen write in this poem and how did she write it, which made her choose to play Lin Daiyu in Wang Fulin's mind? We might as well read it together.
I am a catkin
I am a catkin,
Growing up in a beautiful spring,
Because my parents abandoned me prematurely,
Feng Chun and I became bosom friends.
I am a catkin,
Don't ask where my home is,
May the spring breeze blow me to the ends of the earth,
I want to bring the news of spring to the corner of the earth.
I am a catkin,
Born carefree, carefree,
My father is a vast sky,
My mother is a boundless land.
Chen's poem consists of three sections and is sung in a catkin-like tone. Very imaginative, very poetic, and the language is very fresh and ingenious. The poet imagines the flying catkins as "my parents abandoned me prematurely", which seems a bit bitter and lonely.
But then the pen changed, although it was abandoned, but fortunately there was a spring breeze as a confidant, through which the news of spring could be brought to every corner of the earth, and heaven and earth were home.
Although this little poem doesn't quite conform to Lin Daiyu's temperament and can't compare with Lin Daiyu's poem, it shows Chen's talent.
Since playing Lin Daiyu, Chen's life and destiny have been intertwined with Lin Daiyu. We can see Lin Daiyu's shadow in her later poems.
China pink
There is a crack in the empty heart,
Spring dew and autumn frost dye Tsing Yi.
The characteristics of the wind are immortal,
Stay with the world and write legends.
Chen's poems are ingenious, but they leave no trace of skill. In just four sentences, the character and characteristics of carnation are written together.
The first sentence of this poem praises the character of carnation, which is hollow, growing in sections and rooted in gaps. The second sentence, the color of carnation, is actually praising carnation for its weather-beaten and unchanging color. The last two sentences highlight the immortal characteristics of Dianthus caryophyllus by describing its functions.
Dianthus is indestructible, so is Lin Daiyu and Chen Ye. The Xiaoxiang Pavilion where Lin Daiyu lives is planted with "thousand bamboo poles", which is her symbol. Later, Chen fell ill, but gave up treatment for the sake of physical integrity, which can be described as indomitable.
As light as a chrysanthemum//Away from fame and fortune
I am from Guanghan, and I am very lonely.
Pride does not flatter spring, preferring cool autumn.
Delicate and pale Qian Qian has a long heart.
Still soothing the silence of the boudoir, accompanied by a wisp of incense.
This poem is sung in the tone of chrysanthemum and comes from Guanghan fairyland, so it is not appreciated by ordinary people. Even if you can only admire yourself, you will never be open to spring, just like the cold autumn, stick to your nature. Loneliness has its own fragrance.
orchid
Collecting dust in the valley,
The sky is full of clouds and shadows.
You don't need the wind to rush you,
The flower of freedom blooms quietly.
This poem is about orchids, which are "not fragrant for no one", freely open in the valley of no one, far away from the world, indifferent to external changes, not afraid of wind and rain, and write out the qualities of orchids that are detached from the secular, lofty and detached.
Lin Daiyu and Chen, like chrysanthemums and orchids, are detached and disdainful of the world. After writing this poem for more than a year, Chen became a monk, and soon he died of illness.
Since then, "there is a Chen in the sky and no Lin Daiyu in the world."
