At present, there are many kinds of intelligence tests and intelligence scales in various countries. Some measure comprehensive abilities, and some measure unilateral abilities, such as motor development, memory, thinking development, etc. If parents find that their child's movement or language development lags behind that of children of the same age, they will think of going to the hospital to take an intelligence test, so that the test results can reflect the child's intelligence level at that time.
1. Screening intelligence tests
Currently, the commonly used intelligence testing methods in my country include screening and diagnostic intelligence tests. No matter which one it is, it is a one-to-one test, and the child's reaction, emotion and other factors are observed during the test. Among them, the screening intelligence test
is a relatively simple, fast, universal and economical method that can screen out children with growth, development or intelligence problems in a relatively short period of time and is more commonly used. The methods are:
*Denver Infant Development Scale (DDST): This method mainly tests children's personal, social adaptation, fine motor, language and gross motor abilities. ***There are 104 This project is suitable for children from newborn to 6 years old.
*Preschool Children Ability Test (50 items for short): 50 items test abilities including self-awareness, body parts, preference, memory, visual perception and eye-hand coordination, knowledge, connection and abstraction, Hearing and language understanding, movement, etc., suitable for children aged 4 to 7 years old.
*Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVT for short): It is a test book with 120 pictures. Each picture consists of 4 pictures, and one picture represents a vocabulary word. This method can be used to measure children's vocabulary understanding ability, and is suitable for children aged 4 to 9 years old.
*Human Drawing Test: Suitable for children aged 4 and a half to 9 years old. Children are required to draw a full-length image of a person according to their imagination. It can test children's intelligence level, thinking, reasoning, spatial concepts, perception ability and emotions, etc.
2. Diagnostic intelligence tests
The commonly used diagnostic intelligence tests in my country include the Binet Test Scale, the Wechsler Infant Intelligence Scale, Raven's Reasoning Test, and Geisel Infant Development Scale, Beilei Infant Development Scale, etc. The diagnostic test method takes a longer time to test, tests a wider range of areas, and scores IQ after the test. The results are more reliable and have great diagnostic reference value for doctors.
The Binet Test Scale is suitable for ages 2-18, mainly measuring abilities in vocabulary, memory, reasoning, spatial perception, etc.; the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-R) is suitable for ages 6-16 , the full scale has 12 tests
including general knowledge, word categories, arithmetic, vocabulary, comprehension, digit span, picture filling, picture arrangement, building blocks, decoding, puzzles and maze pictures. Verbal and operational abilities were measured separately. This scale is currently a widely used intelligence test scale.
3. The purpose of the test
Some traditional intelligence testing methods obviously narrow the concept of intelligence. They only measure a certain part of intelligence, which may not be very specific. The important part. The purpose of intelligence testing is to find a method that can distinguish children with real mental disabilities from children with poor academic performance due to other reasons. Its purpose is to help and protect children.
We are opposed to traditional intelligence tests on young children, but we are not opposed to all tests. If the method is correct and properly grasped, it is of certain positive significance to conduct appropriate assessments and tests on young children. Observing and testing children in specific situations is to better help them, allow them to develop in an all-round way, and make them complete children.
