What does the ancient poem "Thrushcross Bird" mean?

By praising the free life of thrush, the author expresses the poet's melancholy after being demoted.

Poetry: thrush

About the author: Ouyang Xiu (1007- 1072), whose real name is Yong Shu, drunk, and later named "Liu Yiju". Politicians, writers and historians in the Northern Song Dynasty, together with Han Yu, Liu Zongyuan, Wang Anshi, Su Xun, Su Shi, Su Zhe and Ceng Gong, are known as the "Eight Masters of Tang and Song Dynasties". Later generations also called him "the four great writers of the ages" with Han Yu, Liu Zongyuan and Su Shi.

Poetry:

The cries of thousands of birds echo their own hearts, and thousands of purple flowers on the mountain are on the height of trees.

Only then did I understand that listening to the cry of the thrush locked in a golden cage is far less than singing leisurely in the forest.

Translation:

Thrush birds are full of songs, flying in the forest with their own thoughts, and freely shuttling through the branches full of red and purple mountain flowers.

Now I know: I once heard the cry of a thrush in a golden cage, which was far less than the free singing when I wandered in the forest.

The specific creation time of Yan Xi Pian is unknown, and there are three theories circulating in academic circles: from the third year of Jing You (A.D. 1036) to the first year of Kangding (A.D. 1040); From the eighth year of Li Qing (A.D. 1048) to August of the first year of Yong (A.D.1054); From June of the 4th year of Xining (A.D. 107 1) to July 23rd of the 5th year of Xining (A.D. 1072), Ouyang Xiu resigned as Prince of Shao Shi.

In his later years, the author offered to resign many times, but they were not allowed. I specially wrote this poem to express my desire to live in the temple for a long time, but it showed a little melancholy of political frustration.

Poetry is not only different from the leisurely work of singing flowers and watching birds, but also different from the general poetry of singing things and expressing feelings. This is a philosophical poem with profound significance and interest. It shows the poet's eager desire and pursuit of free life.

When the poet reproduces his beautiful scenery, he intentionally conveys his thoughts without trace, thus showing the poet's hatred and denial of the imprisoned talent, as well as his love and yearning for free life. This poem combines scene with profound meaning.
