Excuse me, please tell me the full version of this farewell poem, Outside the Changting Pavilion, Beside the Ancient Road.

Li Shutong

Farewell

Outside the pavilion, beside the ancient road, the green grass stretches to the sky.

The evening wind blows the willow flute, and the sunset Mountains outside the mountains.

At the end of the sky, at the corner of the earth, acquaintances are half scattered;

After a cup of wine, don’t sleep in the cold tonight.

Outside the Changting Pavilion , Beside the ancient road, the green grass reaches the sky.

The evening wind blows the willow flute, and the sunset is outside the mountain.

"Outside the Changting Pavilion, beside the ancient road" is "Farewell", this song The lyrics are the works of Li Shutong (Master Hongyi, 1880~1942). It has been circulating in China for nearly a century. Anyone alive, of all ages, would probably say they grew up listening to or singing it.

As early as twenty years before "Old Stories in the South of the City" was staged, the movie "Early Spring in February" had already used "Farewell" as an episode. "Early Spring in February" is a feature film directed by Xie Tieli and produced by Beijing Film Studio in 1963 or 1964. The film's production date is vague because it was not officially released and screened immediately after filming was completed. It was one of the few films before the Cultural Revolution that was criticized without being officially released and screened.

"Early Spring in February" is adapted from Rou Shi's novella "February". Rou Shi was a Leftist League writer who was killed by the Kuomintang together with four other Leftist League writers in February 1931 at the age of 30. After their sacrifice, Lu Xun wrote the famous "In Memory of Forgetting". Lu Xun said that Rou Shi was a person who "no matter whether he adheres to the old morality or the new morality, as long as it harms himself and benefits others, he will choose it and carry it on his own." Rou Shi doesn't have many works. His representative works are "February", "The Story of a Man-Ghost and His Wife", and "Mother of a Slave", all of which are excellent. The story of "February" is: On the eve of the great revolution of Kuomintang cooperation, young Xiao Jianqiu went to teach in a middle school in Furong Town, somewhere in Zhejiang. He sympathized with the young widow Wen Sao, the wife of his late classmate who lived nearby, and often visited and helped her, and encouraged her daughter to go to school. At the same time, he and Tao Lan, the sister of the middle school principal, fell in love from acquaintance to each other. Tao Lan is young, beautiful, energetic, cynical, and has studied science and law, but likes literature and art. She took the initiative to pursue Xiao Jianqiu. Because Xiao Jianqiu was favored by Tao Lan and often visited Wen's wife's house, the corrupt forces in Furong Town regarded him as a thorn in their side and secretly spread rumors and slanders. Wen's wife's situation was even more difficult, and soon her infant son also died of illness. In order to help her get out of trouble and avoid the persecution of evil forces, Xiao Jianqiu decided to sacrifice his love with Tao Lan and marry Sao Wen. Although Tao Lan was heartbroken, she understood. Xiao Jianqiu caused even greater attacks from around him. Sister Wen felt ashamed in the town and wanted to help Xiao Tao, but she hanged herself. In grief and anger, Xiao Jianqiu left a letter to Tao Lan and left Furong Town for Shanghai. After Tao Lan found out, he wanted to chase him to Shanghai. When "February" was published, Lu Xun wrote a "Xiaoyin":

Charging warriors, innocent orphans, young widows, enthusiastic women, new-style young men with their own ideals, lifeless and whispering The old society was not like a spider spreading its web, focusing on tourists waiting to fly, but in the eyes of young people seeking peace and quiet, it turned into a great uneasy pain. This great pain is the poor salt and pepper of society. Together with soldiers, orphans and others, it gives some flavor to the boring society, allowing them to continue boringly.

The turbid waves are crashing on the shore, and those who stand on the hills have nothing to do with the droplets. Those who play with the tide are at the head of the waves and don't care. Only their clothes and shoes are neat. Those who wander on the beach feel a splash of water. Get wet and become embarrassed. This is surprising to the two types of people mentioned above. But the young man Xiao Jun in our book fell into this situation. He desperately wanted to be successful and had great love, but he cared about it and was too reserved. In the end, he couldn't even find a place to stay for a few years. In fact, he cannot become a small gear. He is just a pebble from the outside as the big gear rotates. So after a few rolls and a few noises, he was squeezed to the Female Buddha Mountain - Shanghai.

Fortunately, he is still hard and has not become the oil that lubricates the gears.
