Green River refers to the animals of the grassland.
Grassland animals refer to the eco-geographical animal groups that use the grassland environment as their habitat. The natural environment of the grassland is relatively simple, the scenery is broad, and the animal composition is much simpler than that of the forest area. Rodents with strong ability to live in caves are the most prosperous. The extreme habitat conditions on the grassland make the species of animals poor and the number of species abundant.
Grassland animal species are usually poorer than those in forest areas. However, compared with desert areas, due to the luxuriant growth of herbaceous plants and superior food conditions, grassland animal species are still quite abundant, especially the number of individuals. In terms of mammals, the most numerous are ungulates that live in large groups and burrowing rodents.
Typical grassland ungulates include: gazelle (Mongolian gazelle), prairie sheep, pronghorn antelope, etc.; rodents include: weasel, marmot, rat, Mongolian squirrel, squirrel, and giant antelope. Hamsters, gray hamsters, zokors, prairie lemmings, etc. Typical grassland birds include: lark, bustard (large duck, small pigeon), prairie cuckoo, red-footed falcon and crane. In grassland areas, due to the abundance of rodents, the number of raptors is also particularly large. There are only a few reptiles and amphibians, and the more common ones are prairie bee snakes and hemp lizards.
