"Mujiang Song" describes four kinds of scenery from dusk to night, namely: sunset, river, dew and new moon. The whole poem depicts the beauty of the sunset glow reflected by the sunset and the beauty of the moonlit night when the crescent moon rises, and expresses the author's love for nature.
Writing background
Ode to Mujiang was written by the poet when he went to Hangzhou as a secretariat. At that time, the politics of the Tang Dynasty was dark, and the party struggle between Niu and Li was fierce, so the poet asked to go abroad. After leaving the court, he felt relaxed and wrote this poem. Bai Juyi's pure landscape writing works are not many, and this poem permeates the relaxed and happy liberation mood and personality of the poet after he voluntarily retired from court. The unique conception of the whole poem lies in taking in two beautiful natural scrolls, depicting the charming scene of moonlight in late autumn, and expressing the poet's love for nature.
