The influence of Tang poetry
Tang poetry is an insurmountable peak in the history of classical poetry in China, and it is also a permanent model for later poets to learn and imitate. In the history of classical poetry, the only generation of poetry that can be compared with the achievements of Tang poetry is the first to promote Song poetry. The similarities and differences between Tang poetry and Song poetry have caused a long-lasting discussion in later academic circles. It gives people the illusion that Song poetry and Tang poetry have nothing in common. In fact, Song poetry is the natural result of the development and evolution of Tang poetry. Many features of Song poetry can be found in the poems of Du Fu and Han Yu. For example, poetry tends to be popular in subject matter and language, describing ordinary and trivial daily life and using vulgar slang. This trend began with Du Fu, and Han Yu, Bai Juyi, Meng Jiao, Jia Dao, Pi Rixiu and Luo Yin in the late Tang Dynasty developed, and poets in the Song Dynasty developed. Another example is the discussion in poetry, starting with Du Fu and Han Yu. It is common in the poems of Du Mu and Li Shangyin in the late Tang Dynasty. After entering the Song Dynasty, it has developed into a universal atmosphere in the poetry circle. Poets in Song Dynasty formally absorbed the nutrition of Tang poetry before creating a poetic style. The achievement of Song poetry is a sign of the great influence of Tang poetry.
