Mourning in the Spiritual Home, Reading Robert Frost's House of Ghosts.

In the tropical island in July, the weather is sultry, the skin is sweaty and sticky, and I long for coolness. When I get up in the morning, my mind is clumsy.

When I went to have breakfast, I met an old retired colleague, a well-known popular host in the province. He said that he was editing a film the other day, which was a video of a party hosted by him and me. He gestured with his hand and said, you were so thin then! Haha, I can't help laughing. Life is gone forever, and the feeling that time is fleeting suddenly knocked on my forehead and woke up suddenly.

This instant experience is just like the words at the beginning of the project in the AC (Advanced Communication) manual of Touma's speech training.

Poetry is one of the oldest forms of public speaking. More than four thousand years ago, before the invention of writing, poetry was passed down from generation to generation through oral tradition.

Poetry in 4000 years,/kloc-people in 0/00 years, poetry transcends the domain, and we meet tonight. I will perform the poem "Haunted House" by Robert Frost, an American poet laureate, at the Touma Club.

This poem was written by him at 1906, and may have been revised later.

Frost, who won the Pulitzer Prize four times, is highly praised for his realistic description of the countryside and his speaking ability based on spoken American.

1874 was born in San Francisco, USA on March 26th. My father was a journalist and died 1 1. Later, Frost moved to New England with his mother. When he was young, he studied at Harvard University and dropped out of school because of poverty. He went through hardships all his life, losing his father in childhood, his wife in middle age and his son (daughter) in old age.

After becoming famous, Frost was employed by many universities, went out to read poems and give speeches frequently for his livelihood, and "often dragged his sick body home exhausted". Images of despair, loneliness and death often appear in his poems, such as withered roses, frost and snow, which reflect the lonely, sad and lonely inner world.

Mandy says it's easier to read a poem. But I think why is it not so easy?

In the interpretation of Touma's AC series works, it is clearly written that poetry can be interpreted differently, because poets convey their information through symbols, images and hints, rather than lifeless descriptions.

I feel the same way. It may not be difficult to read a poem, but it is particularly difficult to read a poem well and touch yourself and the audience. Mainly because poets often use their unique imagination, various compound metaphors, symbols and metaphors to express their deep feelings. As a messenger, do you really have that great confidence to be competent?

A poem is a unique password. Although I have done radio literature programs for many years and read countless poems, I am never sure whether I can convey them best. Anyone who says, read this poem ... even if it's all in vernacular, or just a nursery rhyme, I will still say with fear, wait a minute, let me take a look slowly and feel it carefully.

For this project, I first carefully read the guiding article "Reading Poetry" in the AC manual. There are similarities between English reading and Chinese reading, and there are also different expressions caused by different language structures. I may be more experienced in Chinese reading, but there is still a long way to go in English reading.

The first step is to find the right poem.

On the first night, I spent a long time reading poetry. I browsed the poems of Emily Dickinson, Willa Cather, Rudyard Kipling and Robert Frost recommended by the AC manual, and bought some classic poems in English on the kindle. I read one by one on the poetry online, hoping to find one that makes me feel really excited.

Because the requirement of AC is 6 to 8 minutes, I need a slightly medium-long poem, and the venue for the first horse race is noisy, so I don't have much time to explain the background and introduce the author. So after picking and choosing, I decided to choose this haunted house with uncomplicated artistic conception but great imagination.

The second step is to read and analyze repeatedly to understand poetry.

This poem continues Frost's consistent style, worrying about the difference between life and death and lamenting the impermanence of life and the replacement of nature. The name of this poem is haunted house, which I think can be translated into "haunted house". It means to miss the death of the old man, but it will naturally last forever.

In the first paragraph, the first section is particularly meaningful and enduring. In the second sentence of the first sentence, lonely and vanish are used to express his loneliness and nostalgia. In the fourth sentence of the third sentence, falls and grow are used to imply the replacement of old and new life respectively. He sketched out a small house that no one had lived in for a long time and stood in our minds. At dusk, the sun gradually faded away, and the old people disappeared, while those purple wild raspberries grew quietly.

In the second paragraph, the author continues to describe the natural scenes around the hut, from broken fences to vines, from messy lawns to shrubby fruit trees, new green and old green intertwined, and the aggressive voice of woodpeckers echoed in the air. In this passage, my favorite word is recovery. The path leading to the ancient well is overgrown with weeds and no longer exists. I don't know whether the path is overgrown with weeds or the broken heart has healed. I was really shocked by the word heal, which is the eye and soul of this poem. Natural change is a law, a need for growth, and a joy. But human beings are different. The cycle of life and death will leave wounds that need treatment and may never heal.

In the third paragraph, the author finally tells you that he has a heart that is hard to restrain his pain, because separation is because of missing. After the author expressed his heart in the first sentence, he didn't go on to say how the pain made him suffer, but wrote about those places: the forgotten path was not used for a long time, and there was no dust to make Toad blush. When night came, those black bats rolled in the night sky. The reader's heart will also twitch in these lonely scenery, and it is difficult to feel his tears.

The fourth part of this poem is the story of the poet and the nighthawk. In the distance, the poet heard the nighthawk flying, squeaking, hovering in the air, shuttling through branches and forests, speaking his own language, as if telling him something, and as if he were just talking to himself. This bird may be an old friend in the poet's memory, or just a passing bird, but it can comfort and accompany the heartbroken poet at this time.

The last two paragraphs finally face an old cemetery not far from the hut, tombstones and people under them. The author writes that under those tiny and faint summer starlight, those who are always silent share this dark land with poets, and those stone tombstones hidden in bushes, whose names have been blurred by moss.

In the last paragraph, the poet mentioned that there were two adjacent graves in the cemetery, a young girl and a young man, sleeping together. Many readers speculate that it implies a son and daughter of the poet. Frost's son died of illness at the age of eight, and his daughter died shortly after her birth. It is also said that a young couple may be buried here. No matter who it is aimed at, it is a sad story.

The fourth step is to find the music and practice it again and again.

After choosing a poem, I began to look for music, search the sad melody on the Internet, and then recorded it and recited it in the poem, hoping that the climax of the music would fit the most powerful paragraph in the poem. I would carefully understand the priorities of the music in each key phrase, and then I would start to edit the music again to achieve perfect results.

Read it again and again after editing. For the sake of pronunciation standards, I must check the phonetic symbols of every uncertain word and correct my pronunciation, so that it can be clearly conveyed to the readers' ears. There is no doubt that pronunciation standards are conducive to the maximum dissemination of information. An inaccurate word will affect the audience's understanding and the reading effect of the whole poem.

In the process of practice, carefully feel which words can promote people's soul, and then choose to emphasize according to your own understanding, and which words are just passing by.

I have heard countless people read poems, mostly in Chinese, and then I have heard Fu Juan and Dong Sen read aloud in English on Rubik's Cube Show and Himalayan software. There is no denying that reading a poem well requires some hard-core conditions.

For example, timbre talent, a person's voice is a musical instrument. Whether the timbre is good, unclear and deep really depends on genes, that is, how everyone's vocal cords are formed, the length and thickness of vocal cords and so on. Just like a singer, a good voice is mostly a gift. The same poem, read, a good voice means that even the ears can be pregnant. Fu Juan's timbre is mellow, the bass can break the drum surface, the layers are distinct, the eardrum is tough, and the deductive ability is superb, which is really beyond the average person's comparison.

Like understanding. Good timbre may not be able to read well, but you must also know the skills. I have met some people in the industry, whose timbre is good, but they are not delicate enough to interpret complex feelings, which is related to your inner richness and your understanding of poetry.

Like empathy. People with rich feelings and strong empathy are more likely to have the ability of empathy, that is, they belong to susceptible groups and are easily moved by the feelings of others. Such a person is more suitable for reading poetry, and it is easier to convey the feelings in poetry with voice.

Like love. People who have great love for poetry can easily eliminate barriers and express their feelings in poetry, because the input of feelings may dilute other defects and attract the audience to appreciate the surging or moving places in poetry.

In addition, language standards are needed. If the accent is too strong, there will be some obstacles in reading aloud, and the sense of pleasure will be discounted.

I heard a poetry recital in the famous writing center of the University of Iowa in the United States. Exquisite small building hall stools are not enough, and many people sit on the floor. I am one of them. Candles are lit on the table, which is quiet and sacred. A Hong Kong poet and two American poets recited their works. The timbre may not be so beautiful and there is no music to accompany them. It belongs to simple reading. Although it is not as good as the professional effect, it is still beautiful and moving.

Therefore, poetry belongs to everyone in this world, and everyone can read it out loud, for themselves and others.

The AC manual clearly defines three objectives:

Understand the difference between poetry and prose.

Understand how poets use images, rhythms, rhythms and rhythms to convey the meaning and emotion of poetry.

Use vocal skills that are helpful for reading.

It may not be easy to reach the standard, but the time I spent has made me know the poet better, and everything is worth it.

Alas, I can't help smiling when I see this sentence. Yes, life is hard to avoid disappointment, life is still beautiful, and the world is worth loving.
