Liu's poems

This year marks the 0/00th anniversary of the publication of Kafka's Metamorphosis. The book Deciphering Metamorphosis, published by Huacheng Publishing House, is the first monograph on Metamorphosis in China. In the book, the author compares Metamorphosis with China's contemporary "working literature".

Recently, the reporter interviewed Liu, the author of this book and a writer in Dongguan, Guangdong. He said that Metamorphosis is in spiritual agreement with China's current "working literature", which touches the spiritual experience of human beings in different times. "Metamorphosis is a classic" working literature "to some extent."

Describe people's situation with animal images

At the beginning of Metamorphosis, the hero Gregory wakes up from his sleep and finds himself a huge beetle. Liu said that Kafka's novels are full of animal images. "He established a projective relationship between animal images and human temperament and situation."

Liu pointed out that in Kafka's letters and diaries, he once compared himself to a lamb, a trapped animal and a dog. There is also the talking jackal in "The Jackal and the Arab" and the monkey writing a report in "Report to the Academy of Sciences". In German, the word "worm" is used to describe people with low status. The tragic fate of salesman Gregory is "like a big beetle". "The beetle symbolizes the protagonist's life pressure and self-enclosed mental state. The beetle crawling with a hard shell is a portrayal of gregor's humble life under heavy pressure."

"The animal images in Kafka's novels appear in a large number of contemporary' work poems' in China. It is easier to climb relatives with animals than with people." Liu cited the example of "working literature" in the book to illustrate the hardships of migrant workers' lives: Xie Xiangnan wrote in "Melancholy": "I am like a stray dog, wandering from the countryside to the city." Lu Weiping wrote in "Family History of Rats": "I accidentally broke my arms and legs, and I was persecuted by my tail. I dare not moan or cry. When I was happy, I gritted my teeth and called in dialect ... "

Lung disease: occupational disease of migrant workers

"He has felt out of breath. His lungs were not very strong when he was a man. " The word "lung" appeared only once in Metamorphosis, but it can be inferred from the description of the beetle's body that Kafka implied that Gregor was seriously ill with lung disease and could only die in the end. Liu said: "Grigol's Metamorphosis can be regarded as the clinical writing of tuberculosis patients, and Metamorphosis can be regarded as the clinical history of a tuberculosis patient."

Grigol's throat is "not like a human cough", but like "the voice of livestock"; Greg turned the key with his chin and opened the door. "There is a brown liquid coming out of his mouth"; Greg climbed to the picture on the wall. "His hot belly suddenly felt much more comfortable"; The old lady can put Greg's body far away with a broom handle. "His body is too shriveled."

"We can find all kinds of evidence that he is a tuberculosis patient from his body shape, movements, language and so on." Liu believes that pneumoconiosis patients also constitute a very important image pedigree in China's contemporary "working literature". For example, the story of Liangzhuang is not empty.
