The rebirth of the devil: how a Nazi accomplice became a "Ukrainian national hero"

Foreword:

For Poles on the border of Wooper, July 6th was definitely a bad day. On this day, Ukrainian nationalist forces who took refuge in Nazi Germany escalated their policy of killing Poles.

In just one day, nearly 65,438+ten thousand Poles in 167 villages were tortured and killed by Ukrainian nationalists in various ways. Its cruelty, even the notorious Nazi German SS, was a little unbearable, demanding that these Ukrainian servants pay attention to "international influence".

Stepan Bandera, who directly led this group of Ukrainian nationalists, took refuge in Nazi Germany and created the Warren Massacre, was regarded as the Ukrainian version of Wang Jingwei.

Such a notorious Nazi was awarded the title of "Ukrainian National Hero" by pro-European and American Ukrainian President Yushchenko in 20 10. Many modern right-wing ultra-nationalists in Ukraine regard it as the "father of the country" of Ukraine.

This is very strange. How did a murderer who helped the German Nazis commit the Holocaust become a "Ukrainian national hero"?

Stepan Bandera, regarded as the Ukrainian version of "Wang Jingwei", naturally has a reason.

After World War I, Poland, which was destroyed by Germany, returned to the motherland. At this time, because of the October Revolution, Ukraine was temporarily independent from the territory of Russia and established the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.

Two independent countries, also under the interference of neighboring countries, have some confusion in border division.

Some places with a large population in Ukraine were allocated to Poland; Some places with a large Polish population were allocated to Ukraine. In this way, some ethnic inequalities have emerged. For example, in Warren, where the massacre happened later, most of the people living here were Ukrainians, and only a few were Poles.

But on the map, it belongs to the jurisdiction of the Polish government. As a result, a small number of Poles living in Warren have gained a higher political status, while most Ukrainians living there have been exploited and suppressed.

Stepan Bandera, who grew up in such an environment of racial inequality, accumulated hatred for Poles from prudence and was determined to establish a country ruled by Ukrainians by violent means.

1934, Stepan Bandera was arrested and imprisoned for the assassination of a senior Polish government official. Therefore, in the eyes of some Ukrainians at that time, Stepan Bandera was a "hero" fighting for the equal status of the Ukrainian nation.

However, after 1939, Poland was divided between the Soviet Union and Germany, and Stepan Bandera was wooed by Nazi Germany, because she not only opposed Poland, but also opposed the Soviet Union. 194 1 In June, Germany established the puppet government of Ukraine, and he was elected President of Ukraine. Therefore, some Ukrainian ultra-nationalists later regarded him as the "father of the country" of Ukraine.

Stepan Bandera, who cooperated with Nazi Germany, gradually revealed his true colors. This man is an out-and-out ultra-narrow nationalist. He not only retaliated against the Poles, but also created the terrible "Warren Massacre". Even Ukrainians themselves have not let go. After kidnapping the wife of a moderate leader seeking Ukrainian independence, she was tortured for two weeks and executed.

Later, Germany declared war on the Soviet Union, and Stepan Bandera and the Ukrainian nationalist forces he led completely became slaves of the Nazis. They not only helped the Soviet Union fight against the Red Army and Nazi Germany, but also carried out assassinations everywhere, created tragedies and threatened the pro-Soviet Ukrainian people.

After the victory of World War II, as an accomplice of Nazi Germany, Stepan Bandera and his Ukrainian ultra-nationalist armed forces were nailed to the shame column of history. He himself was assassinated by the KGB, the Soviet intelligence agency.

Since then, Ukraine has been under the jurisdiction of the Soviet Union until the disintegration of the Soviet Union in 199 1. Naturally, it is impossible to "reverse the verdict" for Stepan Bandera, but this situation changed immediately after the disintegration of 199 1 Soviet Union.

Then, why were some Ukrainians regarded as "national heroes" by the executioners who helped Nazi Germany and carried out the Holocaust as soon as Ukraine became independent?

Why did Stepan Bandera become a "national hero" from Nazi after the disintegration of the Soviet Union?

The answer to this question is actually related to Ukraine's "national identity." "National identity" is a philosophical concept, which is similar to one's self-cognition.

Individual people, the difference between "I" and "you" and "I" and "he" usually involves three questions, namely, "Who am I? Where is the land I come from? Where am I going? "

Among them, "Who am I" often defines myself from the perspective of interpersonal relationship. For example, I am someone's father, someone's child, someone's husband. These three groups of relationships define the concept of "who am I".

So is the country. When you ask a China person, who is China? Then every China person's mind, will automatically emerge some of the same cognition. For example, we are an ancient civilization with an uninterrupted history of 5,000 years. For example, we are all descendants of China. For example, we use the same and unique Chinese characters.

In the eyes of everyone in China, the same understanding of their own country, or the memory of * * *, is China's "national identity".

But Ukraine is a special country. Geographical Ukraine has existed for a long time. However, Ukraine in the sense of a modern country did not exist for a long time. For most of history, the Ukrainian nation has been integrated with the Russian nation.

They have the same origin, the same culture and too many memories of the same country in the long history. In this state, it is difficult for Ukraine and Russia to distinguish "you and me".

If this distinction cannot be completed, it is easy to encounter problems in Donbass. They legally belong to the territory of Ukraine, but people living here think they are Russians and are bent on merging into Russia.

Therefore, after the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the first problem faced by the Ukrainian government is how to distinguish Ukraine from Russia in the modern sense and avoid the phenomenon that people in a certain area of Ukraine are crying to join Russia.

The quickest way is to hate. Therefore, for many years, the Ukrainian government has been repeating a "story" to the people, that is, how Ukraine was oppressed, exploited and used by Russia during the Soviet rule.

For example, Ukraine tries to portray itself as a "taken child" and tells how "Soviet mother" is treated differently between her own "taken child" and Russia's "biological child". This will deepen the Ukrainian people's understanding that "Ukraine and Russia have never been a family."

But the problem is that the Soviet Union really didn't regard Ukraine as a "catcher". Instead, it often "favors" Ukraine and gives Crimea, which originally belonged to Russia, to Ukraine. Other high-quality assets, such as Black Sea Shipyard, Antonov Design Bureau and Madsic Aero Engine Company, have been established in Ukraine.

Therefore, if Ukraine wants to establish its own "national identity", it must first overthrow the * * * Soviet memory between Ukraine and Russia.

Lured by this motive, for many years, the Ukrainian government overthrew Lenin's statue at home, discredited Ukrainian World War II veterans who participated in World War II and fought Nazi Germany, and at the same time shaped Nazis like Stepan Bandera, an extremely narrow Ukrainian nationalist, into their own "national heroes".

In essence, this is to overthrow the national memory of Ukraine and Russia left over from the Soviet era and completely distinguish Ukraine from Russia.

So, why didn't this idea succeed? On the contrary, it has prompted Donbass, Crimea and other regions to want to join Russia more strongly and further disintegrate Ukraine's "national identity"?

The Ukrainian government indulged ultra-nationalists intentionally or unintentionally, and even portrayed Nazis like Stepan Bandera as "Ukrainian national heroes", arousing the dissatisfaction of Poland and even other countries persecuted by Nazis in World War II, with the aim of completing Ukraine's national identity as soon as possible.

But why did this not only fail to achieve its goal, but also prompted the people of Crimea and Donbass to speed up the process of referendum to join Russia, and even led to the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war and the danger of further division of the country?

In fact, the reason is very simple. For human beings, national identity is a big concept, but there is always something higher than the country. Such as people's fear of Nazism. Not to mention pro-Russian East Ukrainians. If this continues, a little more sensible western Ukrainians will have to go to Russia or other countries.

In order to complete the national identity as soon as possible, the Ukrainian government did not hesitate to portray the Nazi accomplices who made the Holocaust as "Ukrainian national heroes". The impact of this move goes beyond the concept of the state.

Ukrainian ultra-nationalists rose rapidly with the connivance of the Ukrainian government. The ultra-nationalist armed forces in Udong, represented by the Azov camp, have created all kinds of tragedies in Donbass, and even the United States, which supports them behind them, can't stand it anymore. In 20 15, the U.S. congress passed a special bill prohibiting the provision of weapons and economic support to the Azov camp.

Although the bill was later revoked because of the intervention of the CIA. But it can be seen that it is not unreasonable for these people to be called "neo-Nazism" by Putin.

For the people of Donbass in eastern Ukraine, whether they agree with Ukraine or not, they should join Russia in tears to avoid being slaughtered.

There is a saying in jurisprudence that "without procedural justice, there is no result justice". As a sovereign country recognized by the United Nations, Ukraine wants to complete its national identity as soon as possible, which no one can pick out.

As a result, in order to achieve this goal, the demon of "neo-Nazism" was released, which was a typical result of trying to achieve justice in the wrong way.

Facts have proved that this will not work.
