What is the basic point of "Canglang Poetry"?

Yan Yu commented in "Canglang Poetry Talk" that Song poetry "uses words as poetry", "uses talent and learning as poetry", and "uses discussion as poetry", which is aimed at the shortcomings of Song poetry. .

Yan Yu divided the evolution of Song poetry into three stages: in the early stage, it followed the Tang people, to Su Shi and Huang Tingjian's "starting from their own ideas" and reforming the Tang style, and after the middle of the Southern Song Dynasty, they turned to the late Tang Dynasty. It was very dissatisfied with the change of Song poetry into the Tang Dynasty, and was especially opposed to the style of the Jiangxi School of Poetry represented by Huang Tingjian, which "uses words as poetry, talent and learning as poetry, and discussion as poetry". It said that it did not understand the characteristics of poetry and violated the poetry of poetry. learning tradition.

At the same time, "Canglang Poetry Talk" particularly emphasizes the particularity of the art of poetry, and puts forward the central slogans of "different talents" and "different interests". "Poetry Analysis" says: "My poems have different talents (talent), which are not related to books; poems have different interests, which are not related to principles. However, if you don't read too much and learn too many principles, you can't reach the extreme. The so-called path that does not involve principles, Those who do not fall into words are the best. "The "special interest" mentioned here refers to the aesthetic characteristics of poetic works that are different from ordinary rational writings; the so-called "special talent" refers to the poet's ability to feel and even create unique works. The special talent of poetic works with such aesthetic attributes is what makes artistic activities different from ordinary reading and management skills. "Bie Cai" and "Bie Qu" are closely related. Their most common feature is that they are "not related to books" and "not related to principles", or they are also called "not involved in the principles and roads, and do not follow the rules". This is the basic purpose of Yan Yu's poetry.

In Yan Yu's view, the poet's artistic feeling and creative talent are completely different from the general effort of reading and reasoning. Although it is possible to promote the improvement of the art of poetry to "extreme perfection" by reading and understanding, the foundation of artistic activities does not rely on reading and understanding.
