Song Xiaozong was born a scholar after he acceded to the throne. He used to be the master book of Ningde County, Fuzhou, the official of deleting government decrees, and the judge of Longxing House. Because he insisted on resisting gold, he was repeatedly rejected by the Lord and factions.
In the seventh year (1 17 1), he joined the army and worked in Nanzheng shogunate at the invitation of Sichuan ambassador Wang Yan. The following year, the shogunate was dissolved, Lu You entered Shu and met Fan Chengda.
After Song Guangzong succeeded to the throne, he was promoted to Doctor of Rites and Reviser of History Museum. Soon after, he was dismissed from office and returned to his hometown for "mocking romantics". In the second year of Jiatai (1202), Song Ningzong sent an imperial edict to Lu You to Beijing, and presided over the compilation of Xiao Zong and Guang Zong's Records of the Two Dynasties and History of the Three Dynasties. His official position was to be determined. After the book was written, Lu You lived in seclusion in Yin Shan for a long time, and died in Jiading for two years (12 10), leaving the last book, Shizi.

Official ups and downs:
In the thirteenth year of Xichun, Lu You lived in Yin Shan for five years, and the court only reused him as Yanzhou. When Lu You went to Beijing to bid farewell to Xiao Zong, his poems won a great victory. Xiao Zong encouraged Lu You in Yanhe Hall and said, "Yanling Mountain is beautiful, so you can visit and chant it after the event." Lu You, in Yanzhou, is deeply loved by the people because of "giving him freedom again and giving him relief".
In July, the fifteenth year of Xichun (1 188), Lu You was appointed as a supervisor of military weapons, in charge of weapons manufacturing and repair, and entered Beijing again.
In the 16th year of Xichun (1 189), Xiaozong Zen was located in Zhao Dun (Song Guangzong). He traveled in the countryside and put forward systematic opinions on governing the country and completing the Northern Expedition, suggesting "reducing taxes, punishing greed and restraining arrogance". "Mend weapons, recruit talents" and "try your best to make great plans" in order to restore the Central Plains.
In the year of Shao Xiyuan (1 190), Lu You was promoted to be a doctor of rites, and was reviewed by the records office. He once again advised Guangzong to be modest and prudent, and advised Guangzong to take the lead in frugality.
Because Lu You was "happy to talk about rehabilitation", the doctor He Lian's suggestion of impeaching Lu You was "out of date", and the pacifists also attacked him, and the court finally dismissed him in the name of "mocking Feng Yue". Lu You left Beijing again, deeply grieved, and named his home "Fengyuexuan".
