Yuhuatai martyr monument

Yuhuatai Martyrs Monument is located in Yuhuatai Scenic Area, Xuanwu District, Nanjing. It was built in memory of the martyrs who died in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. The monument is 45.68 meters high and is one of the outstanding representatives of modern sculpture art in China.

Yuhuatai Martyrs Monument was built at 1956. As an important battlefield in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression,170,000 soldiers died here. Peng presided over the planning of the monument, and patriots from all over the country donated money to build it. Officially unveiled on June 3rd, 1958+065438+.

This monument consists of three parts: base, tower and spire. It looks like a vase. There is a one-meter-high eagle above the vase, which symbolizes the brave and tenacious warrior spirit. The stone tablet of the tower is engraved with the names of 4 1 anti-Japanese heroes in the Pacific War. They all died for their country in the Battle of Yuhuatai. The pedestal is engraved with seven characters of "Yuhuatai Patriotic Soldiers Monument" inscribed by Mao Zedong.

Every year on national anniversaries such as Victory Day and National Day, people will come here to remember the martyrs, commemorate the heroes and pay tribute to these martyrs who died heroically for national independence and dignity.
