The full text of "Honoring the Mother Before You"

The line "Honor the loving mother before me" comes from the following poem. This poem evolved from the "Song of Encouragement to Filial Piety" written by Xu Xi in the late Qing Dynasty.

The kindness given to the fetus in ten months is heavy, but the repayment in the three lifetimes is light. ?

A one-foot-three-inch baby has ten and eight years of merit. ?

The mother says that the child is lying down when it is dry, and the child is sleeping when the mother is wet. ?

The mother is in pain and the child is not seen, and the child is tired and the mother is uneasy. ?

My mother is one hundred years old and she often reads her eighty children. ?

The prodigal son does not feel cold when the loving mother is in front of you. ?

Translation: The mother’s kindness for being pregnant for ten months is too heavy, even if it takes three lifetimes to repay it, it feels too light. It takes eighteen years of hard work to raise a tiny baby to adulthood. The mother goes to bed after seeing her child asleep. The mother cannot rest after the child pees. The child cannot see the hardship the mother endures, and the mother will feel uneasy about the child's hard work. A mother who is a hundred years old will still miss her eighty-year-old child. As long as the mother is still alive, even the prodigal son feels warm.

"Song of Encouraging Filial Piety" is a poem about filial piety culture written by Xu Xi in the late Qing Dynasty.

Original text:

Confucius wrote the Classic of Filial Piety, which states that filial piety is a virtue.

Both parents have hardships, especially mothers.

The fetus is a minor and is conceived in the mother's womb in ten months.

Those who are thirsty drink their mother’s blood, and those who are hungry eat their mother’s flesh.

The child's body is about to be born, and the mother's body is like being in prison.

I am afraid that when I give birth, I will be a relative of ghosts.

Once the son meets, the mother's happiness will continue.

Love is like a treasure, caressing her day and night diligently.

The mother lies on a wet mat, and the child sleeps on a dry bedding.

The baby is sleeping peacefully, but the mother does not dare to stretch.

The filth of the child does not displease the stench, and the child is willing to redeem himself from illness.

Children should be able to walk and behave in an upright manner.

After three years of breastfeeding, thousands of dendrobiums were consumed in sweat and blood.

Children must be able to eat, drink, and behave as they wish.

After all the hard work, my son is fifteen or sixteen years old.

Huimin is afraid of fatigue, and he is dull and worried.

Praise first if you do well, educate if you have mistakes.

The son went out but did not come back, so he leaned against the door and held the candle.

My son travels a thousand miles, and my love travels thousands of miles.

Being filial is a matter of course; being unfilial is worse than a bird.
