The earliest poet in China (340-278 BC). The name is flat and the word is original. He also claimed to have a regular name and a clever word. The Chu people in the Warring States period, their hometown is now Zigui County, Hubei Province.
The first great patriotic poet in China was Qu Yuan. The first lyric poem in the history of China's poetry is Qu Yuan's Li Sao.
Among the cultural celebrities of the Chinese nation, Qu Yuan was the first to be commemorated by the whole world (1953 was designated as one of the "four world cultural celebrities" by the World Peace Council).
Qu Yuan was a native of Chu during the Warring States Period. He has noble sentiment and moral character, loves the motherland, cares about the people, is loyal to his upright position, and fights against evil forces with selfless spirit. For the sake of national interests, Qu Yuan wrote many times, suggesting to unite against Qin, but the result was that he moved the king of Chu and exiled Qu Yuan. Qu Yuan was still worried about his country and people in exile, and wrote many poems, full of feelings of worrying about his country and people. It was not until 278 BC that the general of the State of Qin attacked the capital of Chu, and Qu Yuan could not bear to see the demise of the motherland. This year, on the fifth day of May in the summer calendar, he died in Guluo River, Hunan. Qu Yuan's works include Li Sao, Tian Wen, Nine Songs and Nine Chapters. In his romantic poems, there are passionate emotions, beautiful and novel fantasies and strong patriotic feelings. Comrade Guo Moruo commented that Qu Yuan was "a great poet who has never been seen before and has never been seen since".
