Ezra pound is an American poet and literary critic. 188510/kloc-0 was born in Lihai Town, Idaho, USA on October 30th. Before going to Europe, he studied American history, classical literature and Roman language and literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Two years later, he transferred to Hamilton College and obtained his master's degree at 1906. Pound went to Europe for the first time at 1898, and then went to Europe four times at 1902, 1906 and 1908. 1908 settled in London and later became an important figure in London literature.
1958, through the mediation of archibald McLeish, Robert Frost and Ernest Mingwei, Pound was acquitted of treason without trial and returned to Italy. 1972 1 1 died in Venice. Before and after Pound was released, some of his works continued to be published. These works include ezra pound's letters (1907- 194 1), literary essays (1954) and selected essays (1909-0).
Pound has made great efforts in promoting cultural exchanges between China and the West. His imagist works have absorbed some writing forms and characteristics of Japanese poetry, such as haiku poems. He expounded Confucius' theory in his long poem Poems, and collected and translated more than a dozen ancient poems of China published by 19 15. Pound doesn't know much about Chinese. His translation is from Japanese. Pound also translated The Great Learning, The Doctrine of the Mean and The Analects of Confucius. In the process of translation, Pound got help from some experts and scholars in Washington and overcame various difficulties. Although people can criticize translation, Pound made an unprecedented attempt. In addition to translating China's works, Pound also translated foreign literary works in many languages, including Japanese, Greek and Italian literature. In this respect, Pound is also an accomplished translator.
