Taizhou (tāi) is located in the central coast of Zhejiang Province, in the south wing of Shanghai Economic Zone, with the city center at 28 degrees north latitude and 122 degrees east longitude. It connects Ningbo and Shaoxing in the north and Wenzhou in the south. It is a new combined port city on the Gold Coast of China. The land area of the city is 94 1.3 square kilometers, the shallow sea area is 80,000 square kilometers, and the population is about 5.97 million, of which the urban population is 1.44 million. Taizhou has jurisdiction over Jiaojiang, Huangyan, Luqiao, Yuhuan, Tiantai, Xianju, Sanmen and two county-level cities, namely Linhai and Wenling. The mainland coastline is 745 kilometers, accounting for 28% of Zhejiang Province. There are six counties and cities bordering on the East China Sea. Taizhou is an important fishing area in China, rich in marine fishery resources, ranking first in Zhejiang Province in terms of sea area and aquatic product output, and rich in dozens of economic fish such as Pseudosciaena crocea, hairtail and pomfret.
