Interpretation of the Meaning of Jiang Xue Tang Liu Zongyuan's Ancient Poems

The meaning of the ancient poem Jiang Xue by Liu Zongyuan in Tang Dynasty is explained as follows:

Original: a hundred mountains and no bird, a thousand paths without a footprint. A boat on the river, a fisherman in his bagworm moths; Fishing alone, not afraid of snow and ice attack. Birds fly out of sight in the mountains, and no one is seen on all the roads. On a lonely boat on the river, an old man wearing a bamboo hat was fishing alone on the cold river.

Jiang Xue, a five-character quatrain written by Liu Zongyuan, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, in Yongzhou. In the poem, typical generalizations are used, and Qian Shan's 1,-trail, the extinction of people and birds, which can best represent the cold in Shan Ye, is chosen to describe the scene of heavy snow and freezing in the cold. Then draw the image of a fisherman who fished alone in the cold river, so as to express the poet's unyielding and deeply lonely mood after being hit. The whole poem is unique in conception, concise in language and rich in meaning.

This poem was written during Liu Zongyuan's exile in Yongzhou (85-815). In the year of Yongzhen Yuan in Tang Shunzong (85), Liu Zongyuan took part in the Yongzhen Reform Movement launched by Wang Shuwen Group, and carried out political measures to suppress eunuchs inside, control foreign provinces, and safeguard national unity.

However, due to the joint opposition of reactionary forces, the reform soon failed. Liu Zongyuan was demoted to Yongzhou Sima, exiled for ten years, and actually lived a "prisoner" life under control and house arrest. The oppression of the sinister environment did not crush him. Disadvantaged in politics, he showed the value and ideal interest of life through poetry. This poem is one of the masterpieces.
