Loneliness.

It is said that it is more sad to drown your sorrows by drinking, because drinking is only a temporary anesthesia for sadness, which can't comfort your sadness and resentment, and can't bring you the strength and wisdom to dispel your sadness.

For a scholar, a book can nourish you and give you the strength and wisdom to know life, face life directly and transform it. However, when you turn the pages, open and close them mechanically and bored, and turn a blind eye to the dense words in the book, when your eyes are blank, it is bound to be more worrying to use books to solve your worries. At this time, your depression and loneliness must be extremely strong, and it has reached the point where it can't be driven away.

The blank of the book is naturally the psychological blank of loneliness to the extreme. If the first section is changed to be straightforward and poetic, it can only show that this book is blank and can no longer convey wisdom to me. Dai Wangshu, who is good at symbolizing lyricism, used a question in form. Whether it is a question or a sigh, it gives people a sense of powerlessness and helplessness. What's more, Dai Wangshu once clearly stated in "Answering Questions in Ancient Meaning": "What is the pleasure of asking me? -window pillow book ". Now, the "bright moon in front of the window" dare not think, and even the favorite "pillow book" has become a white butterfly. Use the image of a white butterfly to compare a book that has long been blank in the poet's eyes. It is not only vivid and poetic, but also full of meaning and symbols because of the special significance of butterflies in China traditional culture. This naturally reminds us of the story of Zhuang Sheng's dream butterfly, highlighting the poet's extreme confusion about himself, reality and inner repression.

Mr. Lu Xun wrote a madman in Diary of a Madman: "I looked at the history and didn't explain it. Every leaf was written with the words' benevolence and morality'. I can't sleep anyway. I read it carefully in the middle of the night before I saw the words through the gap. The book is full of the word' cannibalism'! "

The "on" and "off" here are all "blank". The use of repetition strengthens this psychological effect, and only two words can be read: except "loneliness" or "loneliness". We can imagine the lyric hero tossing and turning, unable to sleep, almost crazy, both "open" and "closed"

If a madman is a kind of madness that produces delusions because of persecution, then the lyric hero in this poem wakes up from a painful experience. Not to mention why, through the short lines of White Butterfly, we strongly touch Dai Wangshu's loneliness, which stems from the creation of emotions.

In this case, who deserves it?

It is not difficult for us to understand that before writing this poem, Dai Wangshu had an attempted suicide: his wife left him with her eldest daughter, and Dai Wangshu, who loved her deeply, was in pain for a while.
