Man is in the world of love and desire. In...
If a person does not know the filth and pain of the evil world of five turbidities, he will be obsessed with it and will not know to leave; if a person does not know the purity and happiness of the paradise world, there will be no If you are suffering, you will not know how to rejoice and wish to be reborn in the Pure Land.
01 The glory of love and desire cannot be preserved forever
The Great Sutra says:
The glory of love and glory cannot be preserved forever. They should all be separated, and there will be no happiness.
These four short sentences in French have completely revealed the reality of life.
There is a saying that "If you don't love too much, you won't be reborn in the Saha world." Since we are reborn in the Saha world, it means that everyone has very deep love desires and troubles. Because of greed for the five desires, we create and kill , theft, adultery, deceit, drinking and other sins.
Concerning killing, there is a verse in the Surangama Sutra that explains it very thoroughly:
You bear my life, and I will repay your debt. Due to this reason, after hundreds of thousands of kalpas, Always in life and death.
As far as the sexual desires of men and women are concerned, it is said:
You love my heart and I pity your appearance. Because of this cause and condition, it has been entangled for hundreds of thousands of kalpas.
The reason why all sentient beings are reincarnated in the six realms and suffer endlessly is because of the root cause of "love and desire" - the greedy pursuit of wealth, sex, fame, food, and sleep in the world, which leads to enmity with each other in life after life. Resentments result in endless reincarnation and endless suffering.
Born in this world, everyone is full of love and desires, and they are all pursuing glory and wealth. However, "all kinds of desires cannot be obtained, so what if they are obtained." It is painful when you cannot obtain what you want, and even if you pursue it, you cannot always keep it in the end.
No matter how loving the flesh and blood, or the couple, they must eventually separate. The ancients said:
Parents who are deeply kind must eventually say goodbye.
Husband and wife have great righteousness. Also separated;
Life is like birds sleeping in the same forest,
flying separately when the end comes.
No matter how much gold and silver you have, you can’t take away even the last dime. The ancients said:
Gold is empty and silver is empty.
After death How could it ever be in my hands;
My wife is empty, my son is empty,
We will not meet each other on the road to the underworld.
So, what we have now is not real possession; what we have together now will eventually separate, and it will be difficult to meet again, and even if we meet, we will not know each other. No matter how rich and glorious he is, when he is about to die, can he hold gold in his right hand and silver in his left hand and leave with joy and satisfaction? impossible.
Most of the situations are:
Poor and humble people can see death as a relief, so they can let go; and people who are rich in life often have a loving wife and a loving family. , gold and silver treasures, which are difficult to part with at the end of life, and the pain is more intense than that of the poor and lowly.
The gatherings in life include husband and wife, father and son, mother and daughter, brothers, relatives, fellow Taoists, ordinary friends, ordinary groups, or living in this society, country, or even being born in this world. Everything on earth is nothing but fate. Because of this fate, I was reborn on earth, in this country, and in a certain family. Without this fate, I would never have been reborn here.
What kind of fate?
The Great Patriarch taught us that gathering together in life is nothing more than collecting debts and repaying debts, or repaying kindness and resentment.
In order to collect debts and repay debts, to repay kindness and grievances, one is born in a certain environment, and is born as the son or daughter of a certain couple; the body is strong and weak, the brain is stupid, the life is unsuccessful, the person is poor, the noble is low, or who he marries, the child is born. Several children have their fate, otherwise it would be impossible for them to be reincarnated here.
The Buddha said: "If you want to know the cause of the past life, who is the recipient in this life; if you want to know the result of the next life, who is the author of this life."
If in this life the husband and wife are loving, the children are filial, and the family is happy, If your career is prosperous, you will know that in the past life, you and your partner had a good relationship and accumulated good deeds, so you have such a happy life. If the husband and wife have different personalities, do not talk to each other, dislike each other, and the children are not filial, The family often quarrels, the career always loses money, and everything in life is not going well, which means that in the past life, we did not have a good relationship with each other, and we did less good deeds and accumulated merit. Therefore, when we get together in this life, we will have these grievances and setbacks.
Of course we have no way of knowing the past lives; but when we examine this life and get to the root of it, we will know what kind of seeds we have sown in the past will lead to the current harvest. Although we are ignorant when we sow, we finally know what kind of seeds we sow. It's like we went to the warehouse in the middle of the night, grabbed a handful of seeds in the dark and sowed them outside. We didn't know what kind of seeds they were at the time, but one day we will know, when they bloom and bear fruit, we will know what kind of seeds we grabbed. Seed.
Life is a fate, either repaying a favor or repaying a grudge, either collecting a debt or paying it off. As long as the debt is paid off and the karma is over, you will definitely leave this world; if the karmic debt has not been paid off, it is necessary to leave. Impossible.
We Buddhists must recognize this fact clearly. When we encounter adversity, we must know that it was sown by us in the past. It was not arranged by God, nor was it judged by King Yama. It was entirely arranged by ourselves. You should have no regrets, no blame for God or others, and be willing to bear it. Only in this way can you pay off this debt.
Otherwise, if old debts are not repaid and new disasters are added, wouldn't it mean that we will always have grievances and grudges? Always repaying injustice?
People are born and die, just like dreaming, you will eventually wake up. Therefore, no matter how healthy and long the body is, no matter how loving each other is, they will eventually change and leave. This is not final. Therefore, the "Infinite Life Sutra" clearly reveals the reality of our life: "The glory of love and desire cannot be maintained forever. They must all be separated, and there is no joy."
02 Live and die alone, go and come alone.
In the world of love and desire, man is born and dies alone, goes and comes alone.
You should go to a place of joy, suffering, and joy.
You have to do it yourself, and there is no one to replace you.
I would like to ask everyone, are we lonely? (Answer: Loneliness.)
A married person has a husband, a wife, children, and dependents, and now he also has fellow practitioners, how can he be lonely? Is it because when you die in the future, each of you will receive retribution according to your karma, so you are lonely? Not really.
Ordinary people all have greed, anger, ignorance, pride, and doubt, so they must have their own troubles and attachments. In this case, it is impossible to fully understand, tolerate, and pity each other, and each other will not dare to talk about all the troubles in their hearts. No matter how loving the husband and wife are, how filial the children are, and no matter how much they gather together, they are still lonely inside.
There is a saying that "no one knows what's on your mind." Who dares to reveal all his heart to others? Who can understand and tolerate each other? Therefore, no matter how loving a couple is, it is difficult to confide their anguish, troubles and secrets to their heart's content.
When you are alone, you are certainly lonely; when your family and relatives gather together, you are still lonely.
So it is said that "people are born and die alone in the world of love and desire, and they go and come alone."
03 Buddha tolerates all our suffering
Fundamentally speaking, if our thoughts are like a TV or computer screen, they will naturally appear at any time without us having to tell them. When we come out, we have no choice or control, and everyone can see it. Do we still dare to go out? I think everyone is afraid to go out because each of us has delusions, distracting thoughts, worries, and ulterior motives. But ghosts and gods have their own mental powers, and Buddhas and Bodhisattvas also have their own mental powers. Our thoughts, words, and actions are all within their sight and hearing range. They can see and hear us.
If the troubles of love and desire are not heavy, we will not be born in this evil world of five turbidities. Knowing this truth, we should be considerate and tolerant of each other.
All living beings in the evil world of five turbidities are evil people, and they are all the same, so we must sympathize with each other, one is all, and all is one. Since I am like this, others are also the same; if others do that, it means that I will do the same. It's just that I didn't encounter that kind of fate today. If I encountered the same fate as him, he would be me, and I would be him. So have compassion for each other and be considerate of each other.
There is a saying:
Under the impetus of karma, no one is intentional; wise people are compassionate and sentimental, and ordinary people condemn each other.
This sentence is very compassionate and reasonable. If you always keep this sentence in your mind and chant it in your heart, your personality and temperament will gradually transform, and you will also bring yourself a warm and harmonious living space.
In the universe, the one who truly understands us, tolerates us, understands us, does not dislike us, and even does not hesitate to pollute us, personally jumps into the sea of ??suffering of the evil world of five turbidities, hugs us, and saves us to the shore. Only Amitabha.
Amitabha Buddha is present at all times and everywhere. Amitabha Buddha has immeasurable wisdom and endless compassion. Our suffering and our karma are all beyond our control. He has seen them all, heard them all, and knows them all.
He is a Buddha. He has no appearance of human beings, self, sentient beings, or beings. He is equal to enemies and relatives, and is one with himself and others. He regards each of us as his only child and as himself. Sentient beings like us with strong afflictions, deep karma, strong minds and difficult to control have no one to save us and nowhere to return. We are fortunate to have Amitabha’s initiative and equal salvation, and to build a paradise for us sentient beings to have a place of refuge.
Whether you are a saint or an ordinary person, a good person or a bad person, as long as you reach the blissful world of non-action nirvana, all your worries will be completely melted away. Just like the water on the road, no matter whether it is clean or dirty, once it enters the sea, it will immediately become the same as the water in the sea; no matter how old the scrap metal is, once it is put into the furnace of Daye, it will immediately turn iron into gold and transform into a mortal. Holy.
