Why is poetry weak today?

Poetry has not declined, but the decline here is actually manifested in the changes of words and expressions. It is these two changes that lead to the illusion of poetry decline.

. . . . . . . . . . . .

The evolution of words is inevitable. War, revolution, social trends, etc. Are the reasons for the change. And these are all things that a society must exist in the process of progress or evolution. For example, when the six countries merge, the language will be unified immediately; The waves caused by Lu Xun and others in the cultural circle have made vernacular Chinese enter the cognitive world of more people. Then the poetry produced after these things may be presenting literature in a new language or a new expression.

. . . . . . . . . . . .

In other words, what was originally a minority has been popularized for social reasons, replacing the position of the original thing. Because we seldom write poems with ancient prose and classic quotations now, and seldom write poems under the constraint of metrical rules, we are out of the framework defined by the creation of ancient poems and basically do not follow the old system, so the poems created by modern people basically have no characteristics of ancient poems.

. . . . . . . . . . .

So we thought that poetry was in decline, and no one inherited it and no one picked it up.

. . . . . . . . . . .

However, this is not the case.

. . . . . . . . . . .

Modern poetry is inheritance. The world written by modern poets is a modern world. There are not so many people who leave their wives, but more modern social characteristics.

Metric restrictions are out of place in modern society, and people advocate freedom, so the conditions of restrictions become gradually relaxed. Compared with classical poetry, modern poetry pays less attention to scale, melody, rhythm and composition, abandons strict and unnecessary constraints, and makes poetry closer to people's lives.

. . . . . . . . . . .

Poetry is not so terrible. Everyone can write it down, long or short, as long as they can express their thoughts and opinions poetically. Poetry is close to the people, within reach, and men, women and children have the opportunity and right to create, so poetry is more popular than in ancient times. As a result, a large number of outstanding poets have emerged, such as Wen Yiduo, Lin, Xi Murong and Beidao. Their poems bring people as much shock and joy as ancient poets (of course, ancient poets also have an unshakable position. )

. . . . . . . . . . .

Popularization means widespread communication. From this point of view, poetry has just taken on a brand-new look, instead of declining, it has become more prosperous.
