What ideas do the works of the Malaysian poet Pengu mainly convey?

Influenced by the development of Indonesian poetry, the Malaysian poet Pengu published five poems in 1934, which were the first works of new Malay poetry. The new Malay poetry is still influenced by the old folk songs "Bantun" and "Shayir" poems. It has a low-pitched style and lingering emotions, but it contains new era and social content. The new poems either lamented the national poverty and social injustice, or revealed their attachment to the hometown, expressed praise to the motherland, and began to burst out with calls for independence. Such as Pengu's "Sigh", Abu Sama's "My Motherland", Umba's "The Voice of the Motherland", etc.
