Lesson 4 Wang Zengqi's "Being ordained"

So far, we have studied many articles by famous modern and contemporary writers, including Lao She, Mo Yan, Bi Shumin, Shi Tiesheng and so on. Every writer's articles have their own characteristics in language, except for different materials and themes. For example, Lao She's language is humorous, Shi Tiesheng's language is profound and meaningful, and so on. We call this language uniqueness language style.

There are thousands of Qian Qian people in the world, and everyone has different personality characteristics-even twins who grew up in the same environment have many different personalities. Language style is like a person's personality, and every writer's writing style is different. Besides the writer's different language styles, different genres of articles require different language styles.

China ancient literati studied the language style very early, such as Cao Pi's Dian Lun Wen said:

Another example is Lu Ji's exposition in Wen Fu:

The same thing is expressed in different genres of articles, and the same thing is also expressed in different writers' works, such as Qinhuai River under the Sound of Paddles written by famous writers Zhu Ziqing and Yu Pingbo after they traveled together. If you look for it and read it, you will find that Zhu Ziqing's words are still so elegant and magnificent, while Yu Pingbo's words are more approachable; Zhu Ziqing's articles have a poetic rhythm, while Yu Pingbo's articles are more like prose. This is the difference in language style.

Wang Zengqi

Minghai has been a monk for four years.

He came when he was thirteen.

The place name of this place is a bit strange, called Anzhaozhuang. Zhao, because most Zhuang people are surnamed Zhao. It's called Zhuang, but people live in scattered places, two or three here and two or three there. As soon as you go out, you can see it from a distance, and there is still a long way to go, because there is no road, it is a winding ridge. Buddhist nun is because of buddhist nun. Buddhist nun complained about buddhist nun, but everyone called him the wrong name, Waterlogging Temple. Even the monks in buddhist nun call it that. "Where is the temple?" -"Hey hey." There used to be a nun in buddhist nun. "monk temple" and "nun" However, monks live in temples. Probably because the water chestnut temple is not big, the big one is a temple, and the small one is a temple.

Minghai calls Xiao Ziming at home. He has been determined to become a monk since he was a child. His hometown is not called "becoming a monk", but "becoming a monk". There are monks in his hometown. Just like some places produce pigs, some places attend, some places produce hoops, some places produce cotton, some places produce painters, and his hometown produces monks. If there are many brothers, send one out to become a monk. Becoming a monk needs contacts and help. Some monks in this place have gone far. Go to Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou, Jing 'an Temple in Shanghai, Jinshan Temple in Zhenjiang and Tianning Temple in Yangzhou. Usually in temples in this county. There are not many fields in Minghai, but the eldest, the second and the third are enough. He is the fourth child. At the age of seven, he went home and became an uncle monk. His parents discussed with him and decided to call him a monk. He was there at the time, and thought it was really reasonable and there was no reason to object. Being a monk has many advantages. First, you can eat ready-made meals. Every temple is in charge of rice. Second, it can save money. As long as you learn to put down yoga and worship Huang Liang, you can get hard-earned money according to the rules. Get married after saving; If you don't want to be secular, you can buy a few acres of land. Becoming a monk is not easy. First, you should look like a long moon; Second, your voice should be like a bell; Third, you should be smart and have a good memory. His uncle took a picture of him, told him to walk a few steps forward and then a few steps back, told him to shout the horn: "Dang Ge XX-" and said, "Tomorrow will be a good monk, I'll take care of it!" If you want to become a monk, you have to get some books and study for a few years. And illiterate monks! So Ziming entered the school, read Sanzi Jing, Hundred Family Names, Four Miscellaneous Characters, Travel in Qionglin, Shang Lun, Xia Lun, Shang Meng and Xia Meng, and wrote one every day. Everyone in the village praised him for his good handwriting and black.

My uncle went home again on the appointed date, and brought a monk's collar coat for himself, and asked Qiu Zi Niang to make it smaller and put it on Qiu Zi. Akiko, wearing this monk's coat, purple trousers at home and a pair of barefoot new cloth shoes, kowtowed to her parents and left with her uncle.

At school, he had a scientific name, Minghai. Uncle said, don't change. So "Minghai" changed from a scientific name to a legal name.

Cross a lake. What a big lake! Through a county town. The county town is really lively: pigs are hung in the official salt shop, tax bureau and butcher shop, a donkey is grinding sesame seeds, and the smell of sesame oil is all over the street. Cloth shops, restaurants selling jasmine powder and hair oil, velvet flowers, silk thread, plasterer, sugar blower and snake charmer … He wants to see everything. My uncle gave him a hard push: "Let's go! Go! "

When they reached a river, a boat was waiting for them. There was a lanky uncle in his fifties on the boat, and a girl about the age of Qiu Zi squatted at the bow and peeled a lotus flower to eat. Akiko and his uncle are sitting in the cabin, and the boat leaves. Qiu Zi heard someone talking to him. It's that girl.

"Are you going to become a monk in the Laoan?"

Qiu Zi nodded.

"When the monk burn scar oh! Aren't you afraid? "

Qiu Zi don't know how to answer, vaguely shook his head.

"What's your name?"

"Minghai."

"at home?"

"The name is Qiu Zi."

"Qiu Zi! My name is Xiaoying! We are neighbors. My home is next to Shuishui-Shuishui Temple. -here you are! "

Xiaoying threw the leftover half of the lotus to Minghai, and Xiaoming peeled off the shell of the lotus and ate it one by one.

Uncle rowed and rowed, only to hear the sound of paddles paddling: "Wow-Xu! Wow-Xu! "

……

……

……

There are no rules in this temple, and even these two words are not mentioned.

Renshan eats hookah and even goes out with his hookah.

They often play cards. This is a good place to play cards. Put the square table for eating in the hall at the door and put it horizontally, which is the card table. As soon as the table was put away, Renshan took out the abbot's chips and slammed them on the table. Play more cards, less mahjong. Besides the other three apprentices, there is also a duck feather collector and a rabbit hunter who steals chickens. They are all serious people. The duck feather collector walked from town to town with a pair of bamboo baskets, shouting in a hoarse voice: "Duck feathers are for money-!""

Chicken thief has a piece of furniture-bronze dragonfly. I saw an old hen throw away the bronze dragonfly, and the old hen took a bite. At this peck, the hard spring of the bronze dragonfly stretched open, and the chicken's mouth stood up and could not be called out. Just when the chicken was puzzled, it went up and grabbed it.

Qiu Zi once asked this serious man for a bronze dragonfly to have a look. He took it to Xiaoying's house to try it. Sure enough! Xiaoying's mother knew this and scolded Qiu Zi: "I'm going to die! Son! Why did you come to my house to play bronze dragonfly! " Xiaoying came running:

"Give it to me! Give it to me! "

She tried, too Really smart. A black hen suddenly covered her mouth, silly!

On rainy days, these two people will come to the waste water nunnery for a day.

Sometimes when there are no outsiders, the teacher's uncle is also pulled out. At the end of playing cards, most monks were angry: "Lost again! I won't come next time! "

They don't hide their meat from others. Kill pigs next year. Kill the pig in the main hall. Everything is the same as at home, boiling water, wooden barrels and sharp knives. When the pig is tied, the pig barks desperately. Different from home, there is an extra ceremony to read a "death curse" to the pig who is about to ascend to heaven, and it is always read by uncle Shi, with a solemn expression: "... all viviparous, oviparous and dormant births come from the void and return to the void to be reborn, so be happy." There is no Amitabha in the south! "

Before and after the three ellipses in the middle above are two excerpts from the Commandments. These two paragraphs are chosen because they can well reflect the language style of the author Wang Zengqi-plain and simple. Of course, this plain language style is also related to the theme of Jiangnan scenery chosen by the author. He writes about natural scenery and ordinary people.

It is true that some people summed up Wang Zengqi's language as "starting with nothing strange". There are few flowery words in the full text, but it writes a vibrant world. Originally, becoming a monk was a rock-breaking thing for us. For example, a few years ago, Gao Feixia, a mathematics major at Peking University, gave up the full scholarship of MIT and went to Longquan Temple to become a monk-this incident was reported by the media for a long time. And how did Wang Zengqi write in Empress Dowager Cixi:

Becoming a monk seems to be an ordinary job that everyone will do. Can you imagine?

Xiao Ziming became a monk for the first time and saw thousands of new things in Qian Qian along the way. The author didn't even use the idiom "dazzling array", but wrote it like this:

Is it like a schoolboy writing? This naive and simple tone is just in line with Minghai's fledgling status.

As for the temple, the author directly wrote:

This is not bad! Don't think it's not surprising that you write flatly-which temple and which monk don't obey the rules? Tang Sanzang's voice and smile appeared before our eyes: OK, OK, I am a monk, so I can't drink … I can't marry … I can't kill … I can't do this … I can't do that. But the monks in this temple smoke, play cards and even kill pigs to eat meat. But these behaviors are not annoying. * * Because the language is plain and simple, the monks depicted in the text are not evil, but have an aboveboard attitude.

This is the charm of plain and quiet language style.

Wang Zengqi

I haven't been to Beijing without drinking bean juice.

When I was a child, I watched the Beijing opera Bean Juice (that is, Hongluan Jubilee, also known as Today's Anger and Beating Lovers). I didn't know what "bean juice" was at that time, but I thought it was tofu pulp.

When I arrived in Beijing, my old classmates in Beijing invited me to eat roast duck, barbecue and instant-boiled mutton and asked me, "Do you dare to drink bean juice?" I am a "hairy man who doesn't eat dusters, legs of benches, big meat of dead people and small meat of flies". What's wrong with drinking bean juice? He took me to a snack bar, ordered two bowls, and warned me, "Don't drink if you can't drink it. Many people vomited after taking a sip. " I picked up the bowl and finished it in a few mouthfuls. The classmate asked, "What happened?" I said, "Another bowl."

Bean juice is the leftover of mung bean vermicelli. Very cheap. People who used to sell raw soybean juice used carts to push wooden barrels with lids to string up backstreets and hutongs. There is no need to "call the head" (the horn that attracts customers), and it is not called. Because every day, no matter where you go, there is always an accurate time. At this time, a woman brought a container to buy. With bean juice, you don't have to cook porridge when you eat Wowotou this day. This is inferior food. In the bean juice story, Jin Yunu's father, Jin Song, is "on the pole" (called flower head), so there is still bean juice left at home, so you can give Mo Jisheng a bowl.

Sell cooked bean juice and set up stalls in the street. A copper pot, a pot of bean juice in the pot, and simmer. You can only cook bean juice with low fire. If the fire is big, the bean juice will "simmer" as soon as it is soaked. There are shredded hot pickles on the bean juice stand-water bumps are shredded and poured with Chili oil, sesame cakes and Inby-similar to fried dough sticks, but made into a circle and crisp. I went to the stall and sat down hard. I asked for several sets of baked wheat cakes, inby, two bowls of bean juice, and just a little spicy pickles, which was a meal.

The pickles on the bean juice stand are not money. A fellow villager in Baoding sat down, took out two steamed buns and asked, "How much is a bowl of bean juice?" The seller told him, "Where is the pickle?" -"pickles don't cost money." -"Then give me a plate of pickles."

Drinking soybean juice often can be addictive. The poor in Beijing drink bean juice, and some rich people like it. Mei Lanfang's family used to take a pot of bean juice outside every afternoon, the size of the whole family, and everyone drank a bowl. What's the taste of bean juice? This is really hard to say. This thing is fermented by mung beans and has a sour taste. People who don't like drinking are said to be like swill and sour. The drinker said: nothing else can have this taste-sour! Just like stinky tofu and Si Qi. Some people love it, others don't.

When the bean juice sinks to the bottom and dries, it is hemp tofu. Stir-fried bean curd with sheep tail oil, and add a few green beans (freshly sprouted green beans), which is very fragrant. The family fried sesame bean curd that day and had to measure an extra bowl of rice when cooking-everyone's appetite was opened.
