The significance of color in Ai Qing's poems: color expresses different feelings and classes. Throughout all Ai Qing's poetry creation, there is a general rule: bright and positive emotions are often described by yellow, red, blue and green, while melancholy and negative emotions generally correspond to gray, black, earth and purple. The poet expresses the images of land, wilderness, north, roads, poor people's faces, clothes and so on with dark tones of gray, grayish yellow and grayish black, and expresses them.
