1. "After Enrollment" Tang Dynasty - Meng Jiao
In the past, it is not enough to boast about the sordidness, but now there is no limit to the dissolute thoughts.
The spring breeze brings joy to the horse's hoof disease, and I can see all the flowers in Chang'an in one day.
It's indescribable, I really want to embrace this nature. Riding a horse on the Chang'an Road where the spring flowers are blooming, the horse's hooves are particularly light today. Unknowingly, I have already seen the prosperous flowers of Chang'an.
2. "Winter Night Reading Shows Ziyu" Song Dynasty - Lu You
The ancients spared no effort in learning, and it was only when they were young that they were able to achieve success.
What you have learned on paper will eventually make you realize it, but you will definitely know that this matter must be carried out.
Translation:
The ancients spared no effort in learning, and often did not achieve success until old age. After all, the knowledge obtained from books is not perfect. If you want to deeply understand the truth, you must practice it yourself.
3. "Mo Mei" Yuan Dynasty - Wang Mian
The tree at the head of the inkstone washing pond in my house has flowers blooming with faint ink marks.
Don’t let anyone praise you for your good color, just leave the pure energy to fill the universe.
Translation:
There is a plum tree beside the inkstone washing pond in my house, and the blooming plum blossoms show faint traces of ink. There is no need for others to praise its beautiful color. It only needs the fragrance of plum blossoms to permeate the world.
4. "Bamboo and Stone" Qing Dynasty - Zheng Xie
Stand firmly on the green mountains and not relax, the roots are still in the broken rocks.
After countless hardships, I am still strong, regardless of the wind from east to west, north or south.
Translation:
I cling tightly to the green mountains and never let go, originally deeply rooted in the crevices of the rocks. My body and bones are still strong despite countless blows, no matter how strong the wind blows from east to west, north and south.
5. "Golden Threaded Clothes" Tang Dynasty - Anonymous
I advise you not to cherish your golden threaded clothes, but to cherish your youth.
When the flowers are in bloom, they need to be folded, but don’t wait until there are no flowers to break the branches.
Translation:
I advise you not to cherish the luxurious gold-threaded clothes. I advise you to cherish your youth. When the flowers are blooming and it’s time to break them, you should hurry up and break them. Don’t wait until the flowers fade and only break an empty branch.
