There are only two major rites in Christianity, namely baptism and the Eucharist. Many family members who believe in Christianity will take their children to be baptized, and then listen to the priest's teachings and follow God's teachings.
So, in this issue of Religious Culture, let’s take a look at who can take the Holy Communion.
I also want to know》》The difference between Holy Communion and Baptism
Not everyone can eat Holy Communion after Sunday worship. They must be baptized first. There is no charge. If you If you wish, you can take the initiative to offer, pray during the Holy Communion, eat bread, and drink wine. The bread represents the Lord’s body, the wine represents the Lord’s blood, and the entire Holy Communion represents our remembrance of the Lord’s crucifixion for us.
According to many New Testament records, on the night when our Lord Jesus was betrayed, he took bread, and after giving thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body which is given for you. . You must do this in remembrance of me.”
In the same way, after dinner, he takes the cup and says, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Whenever you drink from it.” "Do this in remembrance of me." From then on, churches throughout the ages have followed the Lord's teachings and practiced the Holy Communion on earth. Until the Lord Jesus promises that he will come again and drink newness with us in the kingdom of God.
Baptism is a one-time event, while Holy Communion is ongoing until the day Jesus returns. Sacraments are tangible expressions of God’s invisible grace. Because God’s grace comes to believers through sacraments, sacraments are also called media of God’s grace. Believers will receive God’s grace when they receive the Holy Communion. Therefore, the church’s Holy Communion service must not only be held normally, but believers must also receive the Holy Communion normally.
Baptism is a ritual performed with water, expressing trust in the precious blood of Jesus to wash away all sin and become holy. It means dying, being buried, and living together with the Lord. To be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is to acknowledge the Triune God, to take His name, and to participate in His life. All this is just a mark.
Christians should not attach too much importance to the water ceremony, nor should they underestimate the water ceremony. The so-called overemphasis on the water ceremony means that the water ceremony is regarded as equally important as salvation and rebirth. Some people even emphasize that if one does not receive the water ceremony in a certain way, one cannot be saved. The so-called over-ignoring of the water rituals means that since the water rituals have nothing to do with salvation, there is no need to follow them. Asami thinks both extremes are excessive.
