Li Dan's Poems

A poem left by a prisoner in the Tang Dynasty tells a secret of Wu Zetian.

On May 26th of the 23rd year of Zhenguan, Li Shimin, the first generation male leader, was seriously ill and died in the windy palace of Cuiwei Palace at the age of 52. Before his death, Li Shimin appointed ministers Sun Chang Wuji and Chu Suiliang as assistant ministers. He called Crown Prince Li Zhi and Crown Princess Wang to the bedside and said to Mowgli and Chu Suifu, "I entrusted this lovely wife to your family", asking them to take care of Mr. and Mrs. Li Zhi with all their loyalty and wisdom.

This king is the future official queen of the palace. Queen Wang was born in Taiyuan, a wealthy family, and her family has been an official for generations. The queen is not only beautiful, but also gentle and virtuous. She is a typical wife and mother type woman. Originally, her life seemed bright, but it didn't go well. She met another woman, Wu Zetian, and her life took a turn for the better.

Although Wu Zetian is a woman, she has ambition and courage that ordinary men can't match. At that time, her identity was just a general of Zhao Yi, and she was not even qualified to sit down when she saw the Queen. However, Wu Zetian has a desire for power that ordinary people can't reach. The position of the queen of Wang Liugong became her first goal.

After a fierce intrigue, the docile queen and the fiery Xiao Shufei finally became her underdogs, and Wu Zetian became the queen of the Tang Dynasty as she wished. Wu Zetian became a queen. Since then, she has officially stood aside from the imperial power system in the Tang Dynasty, and she has the qualification and opportunity to intervene in state affairs, which is one step closer to her ultimate goal of dominating the world.

However, on the road of Wu Zetian becoming emperor, the biggest resistance is not the queen, but the sons of Tang Gaozong and Li Zhi. Because according to the practice of imperial power transfer, Li Zhi will choose one of his own princes to be the new emperor of the Tang Dynasty after a hundred years. In this way, Wu Zetian can only be a queen mother who listens to politics, which is obviously far from satisfying Wu Zetian's ambition.

Her goal is not only to hold the imperial power in her arms, but also to be a female emperor in a justified and upright manner. In order to get to this point, the vassal of Li Zhi became an obstacle that she had to remove. Li Zhi * * * has eight sons, four of whom are Wu Zetian's own. The other four, the Crown Prince, the second son, the third son Li and the fourth son Li, were born to other concubines.

Li Xiao, the second son of the emperor, died young and escaped in Wang Zizhong, which was not the birth of Wu Zetian. Jong Li, the Crown Prince, was deposed by Tang Gaozong in the year of Xian Qingyuan and sent to Guizhou. In 664, he was executed for treason. In 690 AD, Wu Zetian instructed his cronies to falsely accuse the third and fourth sons of rebellion. As a result, Li was granted the death penalty and committed suicide.

The temptation of imperial power made Wu Zetian fall into a crazy state, even his own flesh and blood. Her own sons have become a thorn in her side, and she will try to get rid of them quickly. Li Hong, the son of Wu Zetian, was established as the Crown Prince in the first year of Qing Dynasty. In April last year, Li Hong was poisoned by Wu Zetian while accompanying his parents in Luoyang. He is only 23 years old.

In the second year of Shangyuan, Li Xian, the second son of Wu Zetian, was appointed as the Crown Prince. Li Xian was smart and alert, and immediately realized that the crisis was coming. Since then, he has been on pins and needles. What should come will always come. In the fourth year of Yifeng, Li Xian was deposed by Wu Zetian for rebellion, and in the second year of Yongchun, he was sent to Bazhou, a lonely city. According to Wu Zetian's usual trick, prisoners are often assassinated by various means when they arrive in exile.

Li Xian, a prisoner, knew that his death was near, and wrote a sad and touching poem "Huangtai Melon Ci": "Huangtai plants melons and ripens fruit leaves. Pick the melons well, and then pick them thin. Three picks are ok, and four picks hold vines. " This poem has only 30 words. It insinuates that Wu Zetian did not hesitate to kill her own flesh and blood for imperial power, thus obliterating humanity, exposing her cruel and tyrannical inner world and permanently recording Wu Zetian's journey of killing her parents and children for imperial power.

Shortly after arriving in Bazhou, he was miraculously forced to commit suicide by Qiu, Wu Zetian's confidant. This poem was widely circulated at that time. Perhaps Wu Zetian also saw it and was moved to stop killing her own flesh and blood.

In the first year of Guangzhai, Li Xian, the third son of Wu Zetian, was sent to Zhou Fang for a few days, and Li Dan, the fourth son, was deposed for a few days, but they were all saved in the end. Under the cover of the aura of ancient imperial power, there are many shocking sins and darkness hidden.
