Wang Wei's Poetic Style in His Early and Late Period

Wang Wei's early poetic style is an all-encompassing master. In the later period, he almost died because of the stain on the status of the puppet regime in the Anshi Rebellion. It was his younger brother Wang Jin who was redeemed by his efforts to pacify the chaos. He wrote poems to show his nostalgia for the old dynasty when the thief was trapped, so he was spared and only demoted.

Later, the official grew bigger and bigger, but Wang Wei's heart cooled and he began to seek spiritual comfort in Buddhism and Taoism. Because his mother believes in Buddhism, his word "rub" came from it, so it was deeply influenced by Buddhism. There is a profound artistic conception of Zen attached between poetry and painting, so many of Wang Wei's works in his later years reveal Zen, which is called "Zen Poetry", and he is also known to the public because of the flower name of "Shi Fo".

In fact, the level of Wang Wei's poetry is far more than "Shi Fo". When I was young, the dashing childe who crisscrossed Chang 'an wrote down the lover's confidant of red bean poems, the long river sunset in the depths of the desert, the sincere friendship of sunshine farewell, and the ethereal and sparse Zen landscape, which is a complete master of Tang poetry.
