Li Bai [Tang Dynasty]
Have you seen how the Yellow River's waters move out of heaven and entering the ocean, never to return?
have you seen how lovely locks in bright mirrors in high chambers and though silken-black at morning, have changed by night to snow?
oh, let a man of spirit venture where he pleases, and never tip his golden cup empty toward the moon!.
since heaven gave the talent, let it be employed!, spin a thousand pieces of silver, all of them come back!.
cook a sheep, kill a cow, whet the appetite, and make me, of three hundred bowls, one long drink!.
master cen, Dan qiusheng, will drink, and don't stop drinking.
let me sing you a song!, please listen to me. (Tilting one's ear: Give ear)
what are bell and drum, rare dishes and treasure?, let me be forever drunk and never come to reason!. (Less expensive: He Zugui; Unwilling to wake up: never wake up)
sober men of olden days and sages are forgotten, and only the great drinkers are famous for all time. (An ancient work: Since ancient times; Only pass: only)
prince Chen paid at a banquet in the Palace of Perfection, ten thousand coins for a cask of wine, with many a laugh and quip.

Writing background
There are different opinions about the writing time of this poem. Yu Xianhao's Li Baiji thinks that this poem was written around the 24th year of Kaiyuan (AD 736). Huang Xixuan's Catalogue of Li Taibai's Chronological Poems was compiled in Tianbao 11th year (752). It is generally believed that this is what Li Bai did when he wandered around Liang and Song Dynasties and met his friends Cenxun and Yuan Danqiu after he left Beijing during Tianbao years.
In the early days of Tianbao in Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, Li Bai was recommended by Taoist Wu Yun, and was recruited to Beijing by Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, who ordered Li Bai to be dedicated to the Hanlin. Soon, due to the slander of powerful people, Li Bai was pushed out of Beijing for three years in Tianbao (744), and Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty gave money back. Since then, Li Bai has been wandering around the Jianghuai area, and his thoughts are extremely annoyed, and he has once again embarked on a long journey of traveling around the mountains and rivers of the motherland. When Li Bai wrote this poem, it was eight years since Li Bai was "given gold and returned" by Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty. During this period, Li Bai and his friend Cen Xun (Cen Fuzi) were invited to visit Yingyang Mountain, another friend of Songshan, Yuan Danqiu, and the three of them climbed the mountain for a banquet and sang songs through wine. Poets are politically excluded and frustrated, and their ideals cannot be realized. They often vent their stagnation by drinking. The joy of life is nothing more than making friends at a cocktail party, and the author is at the moment of "using the talents of the world without meeting each other", so he is full of untimely use of wine to express his dissatisfaction.
Author's brief introduction
Li Bai (71-762), with the word Taibai, was also called "violet layman" and "fallen immortal", a great romantic poet in the Tang Dynasty, and was called "Poet Fairy" by later generations and "Li Du" with Du Fu. In order to distinguish himself from the other two poets, Li Shangyin and Du Mu, that is, "Little Li Du" According to the Book of the New Tang Dynasty, Li Bai was the ninth grandson of Emperor Xing Sheng (King Liang Wuzhao Li Gui), and he was the same clan as the kings of Li Tang. He is cheerful and generous, loves to drink and write poems, and likes to make friends. Li Bai was deeply influenced by Huang Lao's thoughts of arranging villages, such as Li Taibai Ji, which was handed down from generation to generation. Most of his poems were written when he was drunk, and his representative works included Looking at Lushan Waterfall, it is hard to go, Difficult Road to Shu, Going into Wine, and Early Making Baidicheng.
Appreciation
Du Fu praised Li Bai's poems, saying, "When the pen falls, it will make you cry." Li Bai himself said with great pride that "when the pen falls, it will shake the five mountains, and the poem will become a proud and arrogant Lingcangzhou." His poems are full of romanticism and imagination, and they are extremely exaggerated. Once the poem is in full swing, it will burst out with lofty sentiments, but at the same time.
This poem expresses the nihility and depression of life geometry, eat, drink and be merry in time, the saints are lonely, and the drinkers leave their names. I wish to give up everything in the long drunkenness. In the first six sentences of the poem, it is written that the life span is like the water of the Yellow River rushing into the sea and never coming back. So, you should eat, drink and be merry in time. Sixteen sentences of "born" write that wealth in life cannot be guaranteed for a long time, so "a thousand dollars are spent" and "it is fun". At the same time, it is pointed out that "all saints and sages have been lonely since ancient times", and only "the drinker keeps his name" has been around forever. Taking Chen Wang Cao Zhi as an example, it expresses the poet's inner injustice. At the end of the six sentences of "master", the poet was intoxicated and made a masterpiece, but "five flowers and horses" and "a thousand gold and jewels" were not enough, only to get drunk. Expressed the poet's broad-minded mind. The "since heaven gave the talent, let it be employed!" sentence is the poet's self-confidence as a human being, and it also reveals his positive thoughts and feelings of being incompetent and eager to use the world.
this poem is profound and impressive. Emotion is extremely wild, and language is extremely calm, ups and downs, unrestrained and ups and downs. Poems vary in length, jagged and intricate; The rhythm is fast and fast, and it is a thousand miles away. Li Bai's life is a tragic one. The poem "Coming into Wine" is a portrayal of his tragic life. Some people say that "Going into Wine" is the pinnacle of Li Bai's poetic art, while others say that it is just his drunken nonsense. The person, his poetry and his wine are trinity, and the real Li Bai is the only one.
Li Bai knows that life is limited and its value is infinite, and he has seen life from beginning to end. The water of the Yellow River and the white hair in the mirror all caused him to think deeply about life. However, his thinking does not stay in the general sense of lamenting the hasty passage of time and the shortness of life, but pays attention to the value of self-existence at a higher level. "When the song of wine, life geometry. For example, morning dew, going to Japan is more bitter. If Cao Cao concentrated his sighs and worries on a drop of morning dew, then Li Bai pinned it on the rivers and seas. Any individual is just a trivial dust in the long river of history. The only difference lies in the depth of your footprints on this road. Since man exists, he has to exist. Since man is alive, he has to live. Since it exists, since it is alive, you should do something. In Li Bai's view, this is the value of his self-existence. Therefore, it can be said that Li Bai is a person with historical feelings. His thoughts and worries are not only directed at individuals, but also at individuals. The "oh, let a man of spirit venture where he pleases, and never tip his golden cup empty toward the moon!" he sang is not a negative hedonistic attitude towards life as some people accuse. On the contrary, Li Bai is advocating that people should actively grasp the real life and strive to create self-worth. If we only make a negative interpretation from the literal meaning of the poem, it will be very superficial and rare, which violates the original intention of "poetry fairy"
Li Bai's strong self-confidence and arrogant attitude towards life are his unique characteristics. "I am born to be useful", I am born, and I am endowed with talent, which must be valuable to the country and society. I'm afraid Li Bai is the only one who dares to say "I was born with talent". This arrogance stems from strong self-confidence, which is the cultural psychology of the Tang Empire and the national character of Chinese descendants. Li Bai is full of confidence in himself and has no doubt at all. He even thinks that it is a matter of course and destiny to get the opportunity to show his talents. Therefore, he dared to be crazy in front of the son of heaven, and dared to ask Gao Lishi to carry shoes, and he didn't care about the bells and drums, and his daughter was gone. He always regards himself as an independent individual with an independent personality, and his talent is endowed by nature, which is also the foundation of his life and the basis of his wildness. In essence, this is also a tragic personality factor of Li Bai. When the strong demand for self-realization is not met in time or at all, contradictions and pains arise. The stronger the demand, the deeper the contradiction and the more painful it is. Li Bai can't walk into his own character trap.
Li Bai hopes to make a difference in politics, although man of great talent can't. The exclusion and suppression of the upper bureaucrats forced him to stay away from politics. In the face of this dilemma, Li Bai may feel very surprised. Apart from the policy of "using only talents", there is another force. This made him feel depressed, and psychologically suffered from a heavy sense of oppression from reality, which forced him to make a strong rebound, that is, to inherit the wind of Wei and Jin Dynasties and express his indignation and dissatisfaction with reality in a unique way. "cook a sheep, kill a cow, whet the appetite, and make me, of three hundred bowls, one long drink!." Drink to dispel inner depression and depression, temporarily forget the failure of political life, sing songs in a drunken haze, restore your true nature, and gain spiritual pleasure and detachment. Li Bai had an indissoluble bond with wine, which was naturally related to the wine culture at that time. However, he was addicted to alcohol and even died because of his personal experience. As the saying goes, "but since water still flows, though we cut it with our swords, it's even sadder to raise a glass to drown your worries". Drinking is supposed to relieve your worries, but it adds fuel to the fire. Li Bai plunged into the jar of wine. In his view, it may really be "Du Kang is the only one who can solve his worries". In fact, Li Bai's willful indulgence and self-anesthesia are still due to his despair of reality. He chose a path of chronic suicide.
Nevertheless, the desperate Li Bai is not a depressed Li Bai. When wine became a part of his personality, Li Bai found the other side of life and a steady stream of creative inspiration. It was at this time that Li Bai could not live without wine. However, after all, he is flesh and blood, and his health deteriorated rapidly after being soaked in alcohol for a long time. The "fairy in wine" can't escape the fate of "ghost in wine" in the end. Li Bai lived with wine all his life, drowned his sorrows by drinking, and became crazy by relying on talents. the legendary swordsman won the Wei and Jin demeanor; He indulges himself in drinking, writes freely, and is generous and heroic, which is a powerful mockery and satire of real politics.
"Master Cen, Dan Qiusheng, we are going to have a drink, so don't stop drinking." After another cup, Li Bai is drunk when he arrives at "let me sing you a song!, please listen for me"! All the words behind are "wine talk", but it is Li Bai's heart. As the saying goes: Speak the truth after drinking. Li Bai took advantage of drunkenness to spit out all his true words. "what are bell and drum, rare dishes and treasure?, let me be forever drunk and never come to reason!", Li Bai pursues advanced spiritual life and despises vulgar material desires and sensory stimulation. I would rather be drunk than sober, because what I see is vulgar and unsightly: power and rape are in power, ability and injustice, the court is full of debauchery, singing and dancing, and only pursuing pleasure. Li Bai despises such a life, so naturally he can't be with such people. He has a sense of loneliness, on the one hand, he despises the vulgarity of bureaucrats, on the other hand, he has no chance to display his ambitions and is helpless. The so-called "sober men of olden days and sages are forgotten, and only the great drinkers are famous for all time" is just Li Bai's words of self-consolation. He compared himself to the sages, and his ambition was quite lofty. He could not dance with the laity, but he could find a bosom friend from the ancient sages. Li Bai is lonely, but he can't bear loneliness, so he learns from Chen Wang and Cao Zhi to fight for ten thousand cups of wine instead of being a sage and Brewmaster. Even so, he still lingered in the world from birth to death. I am not willing to give up after joining the WTO, and I still have expectations in my heart; It's hard to be born, and it's impossible to seek immortality, and the famous mountains and rivers can't be completely separated from the secular world.
Li Bai's journey from joining the WTO to being born can be said to be "one step at a time, three steps back". Strong self-awareness and strong subjective color make Li Bai's attitude towards being born and entering the WTO have two sides. "prince Chen paid at a banquet in the Palace of Perfection, ten thousand coins for a cask of wine, with many a laugh and quip", Li Bai and Cao Zhi have the same feelings. Cao Zhi was demoted to be king, and was suppressed by Cao Pi. He was depressed all his life and had no talent. Li Bai compared himself to Cao Zhi, and he wanted to show his free and easy while sighing, so his modality was desolate.
Li Bai is already drunk when it comes to "five flowers and horses, a thousand gold and jewels, and hand them to the boy to exchange for good wine, who share the same sorrow with you"! The phrase "share the eternal sorrow with you" is really a splitting heart, writing all the inner pain and despair. The poem has a word "sorrow", which is full of generosity and heroism, and suddenly returns to it, condensing all the erupting feelings into "sorrow". This is a summary of Li Bai's pursuit of his life. Schopenhauer said, "Everything that makes our existence full of troubles and pains comes from the endless oppression of time." With historical feelings, Li Bai sang the song of despair of life-"Coming into Wine" in the endless oppression of time.
