When he was young, Zhang Hu was still very active in demanding a prosperous career. He took his poems to Beijing and other places and visited the dignitaries and local celebrities everywhere, but all ended in vain.
Repeatedly hitting the wall also made him indulge in debauchery and lead a dissolute life in cynicism:
One year, I swam wildly in the rivers and seas, and I advocated going upstairs for the night.
Drunken a few times, the crowd is small, because many articles satirize princes.
Most people who came to visit in those years appreciated his poems, and the most admired one was Ling Huchu, the messenger of our Taiping Army.
Ling Huchu even personally drafted a letter to recommend Zhang Hu to the imperial court, saying that he had lived in Jianghu for many years, was good at poems and songs, and had a unique style. I hope the emperor can reuse this talent.
After seeing the letter written by Ling Hu, Mu Zong showed Zhang Hu's poems to Yuan Zhen. As soon as Yuan Zhen heard that it was recommended by Ling Huchu, he immediately lost his favor-because it was during the period of "party struggle", Ling Huchu belonged to the Niu Party, and Yuan Zhen tended to the Li Party.
Mu Zong asked, "What is this poem by Zhang Hu?"
Yuan Zhen said contemptuously, "This poem by Zhang Hu can only be regarded as a trick. How can a gentleman write like him? " If you reuse such people, I'm afraid it will have a bad influence on your majesty's customs and education. "
Tang Muzong believes in Yuan Zhen very much, and he certainly won't give Zhang Hu a chance.
The entrance to the official position was blocked, and Zhang Hu had to leave the capital in regret.
He settled in Yangzhou.
Traveling around the mountains, visiting the city, indulging in wine and poetry and having fun, Hu Zhang found his inner satisfaction in another way.
He fell in love with Yangzhou deeply and wrote a poem entitled "Wandering in Huainan":
Shilichang Street extends in all directions, and immortals can be seen on Yueming Bridge.
Life only coincides with Yangzhou's death, and Zen wisdom Shan Ye takes a look at the graveyard.
There is a chivalrous side to Zhang Hu's character. He and Cui Ya are good friends. One day, they visited Li Shen, and our time was in Huainan.
Before Li Shen, Zhang Hu claimed to be a "fisherman". Li Shen thought he was very different, so he asked, "What do you use to catch the aojiang?" Zhang Hu replied, "Use a rainbow." "What should I use for the hook?" "Use the meniscus." "Where is the bait?" "Just use your short Li Xianggong as bait."
Zhang Hu's answer made Li Shen feel very imposing. His imagination was bold and extraordinary, so he gave him many gifts.
In poetry writing, Zhang Hu seems to be more willing to pay attention to those women. In those poems, his sympathy for the weak, his struggle against unfair fate, his whipping of darkness and his ridicule of the strong were pinned.
He used "Gong Ci" (1) to express his "hatred for the monarch" for those maids who have been confined for many years:
A maid-in-waiting lived 1000 miles away from home for twenty years.
He Manzi, watch how hard she tries to hold back her tears.
He used "Brother Pu" to express his love for pure girls:
Lapu crossed the lake.
Where is Langxin? Don't take advantage of the new couplet.
I'm not going to pull it out. Ask Lang if he is optimistic.
He lamented the geisha who wasted his youth in the farewell ceremony by "feeling the death of Wang Zhe's prostitute":
The lonely spring breeze is old, and dancers don't sing or blow.
Where the mandarin duck belt is thrown, the peacock shirt will be paid.
Painting drums is not heard, but dreams of brocade boots fall to the waist.
I am a little disappointed in my seat today. I used to be a thorough teacher in front of the whole class.
He described the love affair between Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty and Yang Guifei with "Too True Sweet Sack":
Princess Jin's little flower sac consumes the old fragrance on her chest.
Who is reunited for the king after a long separation, lifelong resentment is the heart.
He also used "Ji Ling Taiwan" (Part II) to expose the ambiguous relationship between Mrs. Guo and:
Mrs. Guo thanked the master and rode into the palace gate.
But I don't like the color of powder, and my eyebrows sweep towards the supreme.
Mrs Guo is Yang Yuhuan's third sister. Although she is not the concubine of Xuanzong, she can be "indebted to the Lord" because she has a special relationship with the emperor. With this, she can ride directly into the forbidden area of the palace. And think that beauty is unparalleled, simplify makeup and dare to face the emperor.
"Sweeping slices" is a kind of self-confidence and a coquettish way to please deliberately!
It is no wonder that the great poet Du Mu's poems are very exaggerated:
Everything feels free, and the sound of the horn rises from the sunset tower alone.
Bishan thinks endlessly all day long, and hates it when grass stops.
The cilia can't see the eyes, and the Tao can't ask for anything but the body.
Who is like a childe? A thousand poems despise Wan Huhou.
During Huichang period, Du Mu was appointed as Chizhou secretariat, and Zhang Hu made a special trip to visit him. Du Mu praised Zhang Hu in his peace poems and expressed deep sympathy for his fate:
Is it difficult for seven scholars to discuss poetry? It must be commanded by Cao Liu.
Recommend the scale in the past, and no one will be Kuai Tong when begging fire.
The North Pole Tower hangs a dream, and the Xijiang waves swallow it away.
Poor "A Thousand Miles from Home" was sung in vain.
"A thousand miles away from home, it is only Du who knows," said Zheng Gu, a poet in the late Tang Dynasty. It is no exaggeration.
Zhang Hu also likes to visit Buddhist temples, Lingyin Temple and Tianzhu Temple in Hangzhou, Lingyan Temple and Lengga Temple in Suzhou, Huishan Temple and Shanquan Temple in Changzhou, Kanluo Temple and Zhao Yin Temple in Zhenjiang, leaving his footprints everywhere. He wrote poems for these temples and had many contacts with monks.
In contact with Buddhism and Zen Buddhism, Zhang Hu may want to find the wisdom of survival, so as to obtain inner peace. He wrote a poem entitled "Inscription to Master Ning":
Enlightenment is not stained, and empty things are not born.
If you laugh for a long time, you will feel it for years.
Lin Jing is covered with the moon and a lonely sea of clouds.
I'd like to make a contract outside the dust, and I'll get Zhi Ming as soon as I get it.
Zhi Zhu took control of the situation. Who wouldn't want that?
In his later years, Zhang Hu lived in seclusion in Qu 'a, Danyang, and finally died there, which also realized his wish to "live only in Yangzhou and die".
