Original text:
Falling Plums: A piece can teach a broken heart, but it can build more walls. Gone with the wind, such as moving to Keling, falling like a poet going to Hunan. Stop counting berries and moss, I'll glue my sleeves for a long time. The east wind is wrong with consumption power, but avoid loneliness and don't advocate it.
Translation:
Every falling plum blossom makes people feel sad. How can broken petals fall like snowflakes, covered with steps and piled up on the wall? Mei Luo is like a traveler who hurried over the beam, and Mei Luo is like a poet who had to go to Hunan.
So many beautiful and noble flowers are now immersed in mud and raspberry moss, only occasionally sticking to the fragrance of sleeves and not going for a long time. Ah, it's really a mistake to let the east wind control the life and death of flowers. It is jealous of the loneliness of plum blossoms and destroys them at will. It doesn't care about passion at all.
Yongmei's poem doesn't have a word of plum blossom, but it not only describes the character and experience of plum blossom, but also reveals the poet's self-feeling everywhere. It is a masterpiece of chanting things.
However, writing a pen is so euphemistic, just like writing a person. Its purpose is to show, intentionally or unintentionally, that the poet is very good at skillfully integrating sadness and emotion into the image of poetry, so he can combine chanting and expressing feelings so seamlessly. This poem excavates unusual poetry from the common theme of Yongmei, which is novel and natural, unconventional and thought-provoking.
The spirit of suppressing injustice revealed from the lingering sadness is the concentrated expression of the indignation of the broad masses of literati. It is no wonder that those in power regard it as "slander" and harm him many times, which is the main theme of this poem.
