Origined from Wang Changling's poem.
The pen name Bing Xin comes from the poem "Farewell to Xin Jian at Furong Tower" written by Tang Dynasty poet Wang Changling. There is a line in this poem, "Friends and relatives in Luoyang are like asking each other, a piece of ice heart is in a jade pot." Bing Xin took her name from this line. This poem expresses the relatives and friends in Luoyang asking about Xin Jian's mood when they parted. Xin Jian described his mood as "a heart of ice in a jade pot", which means that the heart is still as crystal clear and pure as the ice in the jade pot.
