Wen Yi Duo (1899-1946), modern poet and scholar. His courtesy name is Yousan, his nickname is Youshan, his original name is Wen Jiahua, and his pseudonyms are Wen Yiduo and Wen Yiduo. A native of Xishui, Hubei Province. Born in a "prominent and scholarly family", he enjoyed reading classical poetry and fine arts since childhood. In 1913, he was admitted to Tsinghua School in Beijing. He started writing new poems during the May Fourth Movement and was a member of the Tsinghua Literary Society. In 1922, he went to the United States to study art, literature and drama, and wrote many patriotic and homesick poems. He returned to China in 1925 and served as the dean of the Beijing Art College. He also became the main representative poet of the Crescent Society in the early period. He edited the supplement "Poetry" of "Morning News" with Xu Zhimo and others, and advocated the rhythm of new poetry. In 1928, he and Xu Zhimo founded the magazine "Crescent", and later served as professors at Wuhan University, Tsinghua University, and Southwest Associated University. In the 1940s, he actively participated in the patriotic democratic movement. He joined the China Democratic League in 1944 and served as a member of the Central Executive Committee of the China Democratic League. He was killed by Kuomintang agents on July 15, 1946.
