Ye Wan Collection is the oldest collection of Japanese harmony songs. Most of the works belong to the Nara era (the eighth century). The Book of Leaves is as important in the history of Japanese literature as The Book of Songs is in the history of China literature.

Twenty volumes of Ye Wan Ji were published in 770 (the first year of Treasure Turtle).

In Japan, there are different opinions on the interpretation of the title of Ye Wan Collection. Some people say that "Ye" means "Ye Yan" and Japanese "Ye Yan" means "speech" in Chinese, so "Ye Wan Collection" is "Wan Yan Collection". Some people say that "night" refers to the times, so "Ye Wan Ji" means "Wan Dai Ji" or "Shiwan Ji". Some people say that a collection of songs is like a forest of songs. Where there are forests, there are leaves. "Leaves" refers to leaves, and "Leaves Collection" refers to poetry collections.

The authors of the anthology, from the emperor to the royal family, nobles, monks, farmers, people from all walks of life, also from Gyeonggi to Dongguo, Hokuriku, Yin Shan, Yang Shan and Zhuzi, are all over the country. There are mainly persimmon Ma Lu, Gaoshihei, Yamabe Red, Yamashita Yiliang, Gao Qiao Insect Ma Lu, escort, Youyou Wild Duck Town and so on. There are various opinions about the editor that the two volumes are neat, which may be neatly written. The last four volumes are tomo no Yakamochi's private songs, and most of the other volumes are selected from personal collections, so the genre of this book is incomplete. Tomo no Yakamochi was the last editor in chief.

Poems in The Collection of Ye Wan can be divided into three categories: miscellaneous songs, Wen Xiang and elegies. The range of miscellaneous songs includes embracing the four seasons, bon voyage, hunting and traveling, and remembering the capital. What we hear from each other are emotional questions, mostly love songs from men and women, and poems from relatives and friends. Elegy mainly refers to poems mourning the dead. There are three styles of songs: Long song, short songs and revolving songs, all of which are performed by turns with five tones and seven syllables. Long song is five seven five seven. Go on, the length is unlimited, and finally add seven syllables. There are two kinds of short songs: independent and attached to Long song, usually 3 1 key: 57577. The first song is 577577.

Ye Wan Collection vividly shows the harmony between Tang Wenhua and Japanese traditional culture, and shows the customs, thoughts and feelings of ancient Japan. Although his works are exquisite and clumsy, they all run through the spirit of simplicity and sincerity, infinite loyalty to the royal family, pure love for children, deep admiration for lovers, simple surprises to nature and so on, leaving a deep impression on people. The artistic feature of "Ye Wan Collection" is bold and unconstrained. Even when writing about children's affairs, it is frank and simple, natural and graceful, and unpretentious.

Ma Lu, the representative singer of this era, is good at Long song, with magnificent style and heroic momentum; Naoko Yamabe is good at short songs, quietly watching and immersed in nature. The Long Songs sung by the former when attending the funeral palace of Prince Gao Shi is the first novel, while Mount Fuji by the latter vividly sings the sacred gesture of this spiritual peak. Yishan Yiliang has been to the Tang Dynasty, which is a legacy of the Tang Dynasty. He loves Tang Wenhua and is proficient in Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. His well-known Song of Questions and Answers about Poverty describes the miserable life of farmers in Bantian, deeply ponders over society and life, and sings the voices of poor farmers with a solemn view of social justice.

Like other poetry collections, The Collection of Ye Wan is written in Chinese characters. However, the Chinese characters used in this collection of poems have all lost their original meaning, and they are only used as a symbol supplement to express Japanese. This usage of Chinese characters has appeared before, but it is widely used in Ye Wan Collection, so it is called "Ye Wan's pen name".
