Experts attending the meeting said that Mr. Shen Xichun was a veteran figure in Fujian painting circles after the birth of New China, an important representative of the "Fujian School" painters, the most influential national painter in Fujian during the Republic of China, and one of the organizers of the pioneering period of China painting art after the liberation of Fujian, making important contributions to the prosperity of Fujian art. He collected the essence of Shanghai School and Lingnan School, absorbed the strengths of many schools, persisted in learning from foreigners, and was innovative and self-reliant. He has experienced many difficulties and setbacks in his life, but he is still full of passion and determined to pursue art without giving in to adversity. His thought of "inheriting tradition, learning from nature, learning from predecessors' strengths, absorbing the source of life, and then grinding, understanding, creating and innovating" still has strong practical guiding significance. He persuaded the younger generation, encouraged them to take artistic creation and career seriously with a responsible attitude towards history, and trained many outstanding students and elites in the art world, which was deeply loved by the younger generation of students.

Experts attending the meeting believe that Shen Lao has worked hard in the field of Chinese painting for more than 80 years and his artistic practice has achieved fruitful results. As a veteran of Fuzhou Painting Academy, he has done a lot of fruitful work in prospering artistic creation, promoting Chinese painting research, uniting painters and serving the masses. He inherited the tradition and innovated constantly, leaving precious spiritual and cultural wealth for the people, which was affirmed by the party and state leaders and leaders at all levels in provinces and cities, won the respect of colleagues at home and abroad, and also added luster to Fujian painting circles. Holding this event will make the national art world know more about Shen Lao's superb art and heroic life, further promote the exchanges and development between Fujian and the whole country, further expand the creative potential of artistic development, and contribute to the artistic cause of the Chinese nation.

Chen Yun, vice chairman of Fujian CPPCC, pointed out in his speech that Mr. Shen Xichun is an artist and educator with both ability and political integrity. He has ideals and pursuits since he was a child, and he is full of heroic integrity. He took an active part in the progressive movement in his early years, so he was imprisoned. He lived a life of hatred and integrity, devoted himself to resisting Japan and saving the country with a brush as a steel gun, and did not hesitate to lose everything; He loves life like a child and devotes himself to cultivating the later show. There are many talents in the world, and peaches and plums are everywhere. He is indifferent to fame and wealth, advocates simplicity, and actively participates in any activities that are beneficial to the country and the nation. After liberation, despite years of unfair treatment, he did not give in to adversity, and always embraced patriotism, loved the people and loved his hometown. In his later years, Shen Lao was concerned about the reunification of the motherland and actively promoted cross-strait exchanges. Many of his paintings, such as "The Voice of Red Rock" and "Su Ying Gao Qiu Jihuai Strait", express his desire to love the Strait. 1998 also personally led a delegation to Taibei to hold an art exhibition at the age of nearly 90, which had a great response in Taiwan Province Province and made its own contribution to cross-strait exchanges. As a member of China Democratic League, he loved the motherland, the people and the pursuit of democratic progress all his life, and was a good friend of China Producers' Party. When working in Fujian, Comrade Xiangnan admired Shen Lao's character and praised him for "painting the earth with painters and serving the people all his life".

In accordance with Mr. Shen Xichun's last wish, family representatives announced at the forum that they would donate some of Mr. Shen Xichun's fine works to set up the "Shen Xichun Art Education Fund". The first donation of 2 million yuan will be used as a student aid fund to help poor students who have lived and worked in Wuyishan for many years.

After the symposium, the opening ceremony of "Retrospective Exhibition in Commemoration of Shen Xichun's Centennial Birthday" was held. Zhang, Wang Yifu, Chen Yun cut the ribbon for the exhibition. This "Fine Retrospect Exhibition" featured more than 60 representative works of Mr. Shen Xichun in different periods, showing his artistic achievements for more than 80 years, and will be held in Beijing Hotel Boat Art Museum for two consecutive days.

Jia Qinglin, member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Wang Zhaoguo, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and vice chairman of the National People's Congress, Shen, chairman of the Fujian Provincial Political Consultative Conference and member of the Standing Committee of the Kuomintang Central Committee, presented flower baskets to the event.

Ouyang Xijun, Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the Art Appraisal and Evaluation Committee of the Art Center of the Ministry of Culture: Mr. Shen Xichun is one of the founders of Fuzhou Painting Academy, the fourth generation master of Zhao 'an Painting School, the veteran representative of "Min School" painters, and the outstanding representative of modern Zhao 'an Painting School (Min School) Chinese painting. 1933 graduated from Shanghai Xinhua Art Institute, and his works were selected as 1937 "China Famous Paintings in Ancient and Modern Times". His personal biography and paintings were included in the China Art Yearbook, the first chronicle of modern art history in China, and he became the most influential painter in Fujian during the Republic of China. His works combine the essence of the sea painting school and Lingnan painting school, and are unique in painting "living tigers". They are also famous for their majestic and steep landscapes, novel flower compositions and lifelike fish, insects, eagles and cranes at home and abroad. Realistic, good at writing half-court, freehand brushwork, long scrolls of flowers and birds, insects, landscapes and figures. His collection of "Lingnan" and "Liangjiang" styles in one furnace organically combines the modeling of western painting with the pen and ink, artistic conception and interest of Chinese painting, creating a new Chinese painting. His artistic features are very strong, and his art is of great significance throughout the country. His achievement is that people have fully realized it. From the recent auction of Fujian Guardian famous calligraphy and painting collections held by Fujian calligraphy and painting circles, the work "Yunshan Wan Li" by the late old painter Shen Xichun was sold for 240,000 yuan, which marked the steady return of the value of Fujian calligraphy and painting in the "value depression". It can be seen that Shen Xichun's works have great appreciation space. Six works, including Xiong Feng, were sold for more than 300,000 yuan, and the auction proceeds were more than 2 million yuan. The "Shen Xichun Art Education Fund" was established, with the first donation of 2 million yuan, which will be used to support poor students in Wuyishan who have worked for Shen Lao for many years. The words "Virtue and Art, Kindness and Effectiveness" are the profound recognition and heartfelt thanks of the participating experts for Shen Xichun's hard work in the field of Chinese painting creation in China and art education in China for more than 80 years.

Fan Dian, director of China Art Museum and vice chairman of China Artists Association: Mr. Shen Xichun studied painting as early as the early 20th century, especially at Shanghai Xinhua Academy of Fine Arts. Guided by many famous artists, he has a broad cultural vision, which has well formed a creative method of learning tradition and feeling life. Therefore, he was active in China painting circle as early as the first half of the 20th century, and was recognized by the painting circle at that time. His artistic characteristics are as follows: First, meticulous brushwork and freehand brushwork are well integrated. From his meticulous paintings, we can see the breath of freehand brushwork literati, and in his freehand brushwork flowers, tiger paintings and other themes, we can see a good shape. Both meticulous and freehand brushwork can be well connected, which is a very important artistic feature. Secondly, his works have distinct Fujian painting tradition and cultural tradition. As early as the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Fujian painters created a particularly dynamic modeling style and formed the influence of Fujian painting style on the national painting style. Shen Xichun inherited this dynamic modeling style very well. From his works, we can clearly see a very lively scene, the picture is very active, and it conveys the life breath and meteorology of nature well. Third, he has always adhered to his artistic beliefs. Although he was treated unfairly, no matter how rough his life was, he insisted on creating. No matter in Fuzhou, the provincial capital, or Wuyishan, he organized many activities with many painters of the older generation, and created a large number of excellent works, which enriched the regional context and appearance of Fujian.

Professor Shao Dazhen, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of Art History Department of Central Academy of Fine Arts: Mr. Shen Xichun is a representative of his generation of intellectuals and painters. After the May 4th Movement, he went to the painting world by accepting the art education of combining Chinese and Western arts. After receiving the education of Chinese and Western arts, he studied the traditions of tradition, pen and ink and culture, developed his own personality, and combined the modeling of western painting with the pen and ink, artistic conception and taste of Chinese painting to create a novel Chinese painting. So his art is very distinctive, and his art has national significance. We should fully evaluate and enrich his achievements. Western painting pays attention to modeling, while Chinese painting pays attention to freehand brushwork, emotion and style. The integration of the two is very difficult, but Mr. Shen Xichun's achievements in this respect deserve our respect and admiration. His works include ink painting, meticulous painting and heavy color painting. Ink painting is freehand brushwork by literati, and a large number of bright colors are used. China ink painting is difficult to use color, and generally pays attention to the elegance of ink painting. However, Mr. Shen made many bold attempts, trying to use colors in some ink paintings, and produced another artistic effect and creativity. He made great efforts in the application of color in China's ink painting. Shen Lao has experienced many setbacks in his life, but he has always maintained a kind spirit, a spirit of loving human nature and nature, regardless of prosperity or adversity. So Mr. Shen is an artist who should not be buried. We should carry forward his spirit and inherit his artistic skills. This is of positive significance to the development of contemporary Chinese painting.

Professor Chen Chuanxi, doctoral supervisor of China Renmin University: Mr. Shen Xichun is not only a painter, but also a man with lofty ideals, an accomplished person, a man of noble character, and a leading scholar with integrity and backbone. The ancients said, "Painting was handed down by people, not people." Mr. Shen is a painter because his life is more important than painting. As a painter, Mr. Shen is very successful. He studied painting before he was ten years old, and he was very talented. When I was a teenager, I went to Shantou and Xiamen Academy of Fine Arts to study, and then I went to Shanghai to study. Learn painting from Pan Tianshou, Zhu and other masters. We can also see from his paintings that he has studied the Shanghai School, Yunnan Tian and Yangzhou Eight Eccentrics, especially Yunnan Tian, and there are obvious traces in his paintings, which is really the best of all. Mr. Shen Xichun paints landscapes, figures, flowers, birds and animals very well, but I think his figure painting is the best. Shen Xichun's "Tiger Carving" entrusted his thoughts and feelings, a sense of responsibility to the country and the nation. The traditional intellectuals of the older generation have a strong sense of responsibility for the culture of the country and the nation, which is worth learning from later generations. We should not only learn from Mr. Shen Xichun's artistic exploration spirit, but also learn from his sense of responsibility to the country and people as a traditional intellectual, as well as his integrity and backbone.

Professor Chen Zui, member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and doctoral supervisor of the Institute of Fine Arts of China Academy of Fine Arts: Although the younger generation is not familiar with Mr. Shen Xichun, I was deeply impressed by revisiting his works. The first and most important thing that impressed me most was the fighting spirit and persistent spirit of the older generation of artists who made achievements in the 1930s and 1940s. Secondly, Mr. Shen Xichun set a good example for us in painting and a more important example for the youth of future generations in personality. Chinese painting pays attention to painting and character, and people like Mr. Shen Xichun deserve to be a model. Thirdly, his paintings are as wonderful as his personality and paintings, and closely combined with his personality and paintings. His paintings show patriotism and a strong sense of hardship. For example, when he painted tigers and lions, he pinned his patriotic feelings, his attitude towards the national disaster, his resentment against the invaders and his pinning on our national rejuvenation. The tiger he painted is very weighty, giving the impression that although the painting is made of rice paper, it can't be picked up and is very heavy. This is his pen and ink style. Fourth, his paintings have a wide range of subjects. From his landscape paintings and flower-and-bird paintings, we can see profound traditional kung fu, and his training and his own creativity can be reflected. And it's a little more colorful and varied than traditional colors. This is his progress and contribution to Chinese painting. Fifth, he can keep up with the times and the development of the times.

Mr. Shiping Luo, doctoral supervisor and professor of art history at the Central Academy of Fine Arts: I have seen Mr. Shen Xichun's paintings, and I have two major feelings: First, Mr. Shen's paintings have given me a prominent impression, that is, there is a kind of awe-inspiring spirit and "kindness" in his paintings. Noble spirit comes from traditional moral fashion, which can only be regarded as upright spirit in China's traditional literati class, which is fully reflected in Mr. Shen's works, poems and his life experience. "If you learn to be excellent, you will be an official, and you will not make progress." On the "Tao" of this art, Mr. Shen went from his hometown to Lingnan and Shanghai. The whole process is accompanied by China's century-long progress, and he has completed the cultivation of a conscientious painter on "Tao". Despite the impact from different stages and aspects, his belief has never wavered. In old age, this heroism still exists, and it is pure heroism. This is the spirit of China, which has been fully reflected in him. Secondly, his paintings and his art embody the spirit of the times. He is an outstanding representative among the important figures in the transition from traditional painting to modern painting in China. His growth process is a very important stage in the modernization of modern painting in China. He aims at how art develops with the changes of the times, how traditional art blends into the tide of world culture, and how to develop traditional art more deeply, and constantly seeks new paths for the development of traditional culture. There are many new things in Shen Lao's works, which are fully reflected in the paintings with the exploration of the sense of responsibility of the times. He learned many new things from different times and kept up with the times. In his paintings, there are not only the regional characteristics of Fujian, but also his artistic practice process, and also various experiments of traditional painting towards modernization. Therefore, Mr. Shen Xichun is a painter who can enter the modern history of China for a hundred years to observe. I think we should study him well.

Yang Lin, deputy editor-in-chief of China Fine Arts Publishing House, calligrapher and art critic: Mr. Shen Xichun is not only a painter, but also a national fighter with a sense of social responsibility and justice. During the Anti-Japanese War, Mr. Shen donated a large number of paintings as a painter and made contributions to the country's anti-Japanese war. Teacher Shen is good at drawing flowers and birds, landscapes and figures, especially tigers. The tiger he painted is lifelike and meticulous, giving people a positive and energetic spirit. And I think the tigers in his works can draw different shapes according to different moods, which is rare among ordinary painters. Just like the tiger he made in the 1930 s and 1940 s, it is magnificent and magnificent. At this time, the tiger has a certain symbolic significance, showing China's determination and confidence in the war of resistance. 1949 The tiger created on the eve expressed the yearning for the new China. 1988' s Good and Effective reflects a painter's attitude towards society and life. I think there is a kind of love in this tiger painting, which is "harmonious society" in today's words. In this respect, Mr. Shen has a feeling of being ahead of the times. The publication of Shen Xichun's Painting Collection by People's Fine Arts Publishing House is of positive significance. First of all, pass on excellent works of art and infect more people. Secondly, it is conducive to carrying forward the spirit of the older generation of artists who are indifferent to fame and fortune and setting a consistent example.

Tang Hui, executive vice president of Rong Baozhai Painting Academy, a famous painter and art critic: I feel very shocked to see Mr. Shen Xichun's works. He has his own goals and pursuits in the discussion of Chinese painting, and has formed his own style and spirit. This spirit moved us. Old painters like Shen Lao need us to promote them. I hope that the art world can also form such an atmosphere. We should not only stare at a few so-called masters, but also at artists and educators who pursue art like Mr. Shen Xichun. Their contribution is the greatest. Mr. Shen's creative themes are very rich, and he is good at landscapes, flowers and birds, and figures, especially flower-and-bird paintings. Fujian flower-and-bird painting is relatively strong and traditional as a whole, which can be seen from Mr. Shen's works. As everyone said, his tiger paintings show not a person's personality, but all aspects of the tiger's personality, which is very distinctive and successful. The tiger's expression is rich, dynamic and diverse, with human feelings and painter's feelings in it.

Yao, Vice President of China Calligraphy and Painting Celebrity Federation: Mr. Shen Xichun's paintings are varied and wonderful, but he is particularly proud of his tiger paintings. After years of tempering, it has formed its own style and won the reputation of "drawing a tiger alive". In order to draw a real tiger, he once risked his life to see a real tiger in the mountains. His obsession and pursuit of art can be seen. I think Mr. Shen's paintings have three characteristics. First, he pays attention to modeling and pen and ink. His painting style is very vivid, because it is based on the sketch of a real tiger, so the structure is vivid and rigorous; Because the landscapes and flowers he painted are very basic, and the scenery is closely coordinated with the tiger, which is very stylish. Second, when I saw the tiger painted by Shen Lao, I really saw a sense of awe. Where does this "qi" come from? It is the freehand brushwork spirit of Chinese painting. Painting a tiger is actually painting yourself, painting the nation and painting the times. The old gentleman had a rough life, but he loved his country, hometown, intellectuals and students ideologically and in his bones. He immersed his experience in education. He donated dozens of works to War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and was persecuted during the Cultural Revolution. He put his spirit into his tiger works, showing a noble and upright spirit, which makes people feel that this "qi" is great. Thirdly, Mr. Shen Lao's paintings have a strong traditional literati spirit, which is especially worth learning by contemporary people. As an old-timer and an old artist, he can persist in his life and live a long life in his beautiful spiritual home because he is far from fame and fortune, far from the times and immersed in the pursuit of art. His tiger paintings strongly embody heroism, one is the national spirit, and the other is the spirit of the times. He left these spirits to our descendants. This is the spirit of traditional literati, which we should inherit and carry forward.

Dr. Liu Mo, researcher of Peking University Institute of Historical and Cultural Resources: Mr. Shen Xichun's paintings, no matter his landscapes, flowers and birds, or his tiger paintings, all contain a kind of vitality, which comes from the depths of his life. Look at his tiger, you will find that it is "angry", and it is really "powerful", which represents his tenacious vitality, and this vitality will not be destroyed by any realistic oppression. In his later years, the pen and ink of Mr. Shen's works not only did not weaken, but became stronger and stronger. Through painting, we can find that he has the valuable integrity and character of China literati. What is the most precious thing in our time? It is this kind of thing on Mr. Shen Xichun. As intellectuals, artists or modern scholars, we should maintain and inherit Mr. Shen's integrity and character. This is what Mr. Shen needs us to learn, commemorate and worship most.

Chen Yuliang, Deputy Secretary-General of the Theoretical Committee of Guo Yun Wenhua Painting and Calligraphy Institute of the Ministry of Culture: Through Shen Lao's pen and ink, we saw an old gentleman with outstanding character. He wrote an upright, kind and heroic traditional literati image with a hundred years of calligraphy, but his appearance was consistent. Chinese painting pays attention to style. In the Six Laws of Sheikh, vivid charm is listed as the first of the six laws. Vivid charm emphasizes that painting is expensive in artistic conception, which can make people feel "lingering for three days" after reading it. Works with low style can only talk about things and write things. Although the description is very detailed, none of them can convey the sound outside the painting. This kind of work is not desirable. Shen Lao's works are heavy and elegant. This is why we are so excited and even awe-inspiring after seeing his paintings. Shen Lao has a deep study and research on the boneless paintings of Yunnan Tian, which is deeply reflected in his flower-and-bird paintings. The so-called: learn from the past without being rigid. Shen Lao used the fresh and beautiful painting style of Yunnan for reference, and also integrated Xie He's emphasis on "using a brush with bone skills" and "using colors with classes", and finally formed his unique painting style with profound traditional foundation.

To sum up, Shen Lao's paintings have the following characteristics: First, they are accurate in modeling and ingenious in brushwork. In the early days, Shen Lao's flower-and-bird paintings were deeply influenced by Zhao 'an School and influenced by academic school, which combined the strengths of Shanghai School and Lingnan School, and finally became fresh, elegant and heavy. He takes nature as a teacher and keeps in mind that "pen and ink should keep pace with the times", which is why his paintings have both accurate shapes and beautiful colors. His tiger paintings are deeply influenced by Zhang Shanma, which is not only reflected in the inheritance of techniques, but also affects his life. Zhang Shanyuan's hatred of evil is vividly reflected in Shen Lao. This is the so-called picturesque character. Second, explain it in simple terms. While conveying good feelings, we can also grasp the pulse of the times. Shen Lao's works such as 1937 Cold, 1949 Spring of the Motherland on the National Day, and Kindness and Heroism in the 1980s not only reflect a literati's anxiety and joy about the fate of the motherland, but also well preserve the traces of the years. Shen Lao's ability to control the current situation and the overall situation is revealed through subtle emotions. Perhaps this is the most important factor that his works can infect people. It is also the reason why his works finally stood the test and finally spread.
