Extended information:

"Water Margin" is a masterpiece of the Ming Dynasty novels in my country. It is not made up by the author out of thin air, but is based on the historical events of Song Jiang's rebellion and uprising during the reign of Xuanhe in the Northern Song Dynasty. It also widely absorbs the "Liangshanbo Story" based on street talks, storytellers, and drama performances between the Song and Yuan Dynasties.

The novel describes the story of a hundred and eight generals fighting against the official army in Liangshan. The story is divided into two parts before and after Song Jiang was recruited to peace. Before being recruited to peace, it was the process of the Liangshan heroes growing up and resisting the imperial court. After being recruited to peace, it was the tragedy of the rebel army's loyalty to the country but all losses. The novel has a tortuous plot, vivid language, and distinctive characters. It is a model for describing heroic legends.

The author Shi Naian, named Zian, courtesy name Naian, was born in Qiantang (now Hangzhou, Zhejiang). Novelist in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties. His life story is unknown. He was a Jinshi and an official, but he was not in harmony with the political elite, so he abandoned his official position and went into seclusion to engage in literary creation.

He is knowledgeable about ancient and modern times, and is talented. He has dabbled in classics and history, and is also proficient in poetry, astronomy, geography, medical divination, and astrology. In the early years of Hongwu, he hid in Jiangyin and set up a museum to teach students, and there were many scholars. Taking the story of Liangshanbo, he wrote the book "Water Margin".
