Charlotte Bronte

Charlotte Bronte, C. (1816~1855) British female novelist. Sister of Emily Bronte. Born in an isolated village in Yorkshire, northern England. The father is a poor pastor. She and several other sisters were sent to a boarding school with poor living conditions and strict rules. Charlotte worked as a teacher and tutor, and went to Brussels, Belgium, with her sister Emily in 1842 to study French and classical literature.

Charlotte's works mainly describe the loneliness, resistance and struggle of the poor petty bourgeoisie, and she belongs to what Marx called the "excellent group" headed by Dickens. "Jane Eyre" is her debut novel and her masterpiece, which is still popular among readers.

Charlotte also published collections of poetry, and her other novels include: "Shirley" (1849), "Villette" (1853) and "The Teacher" (1857).

Emily Bront?

Emily Bront?, E. (1818~1848) British female writer. Sister of Charlotte Bronte, sister of Anne Bronte. Born in a poor pastor's family, he studied in boarding schools with poor living conditions. He also went to Belgium with his sister to study French, German and French literature, preparing to run his own school in the future, but failed. Emily is introverted, quiet and elegant, and has been passionate about writing poetry since childhood. In 1846, the three sisters published a collection of poems at their own expense. "Wuthering Heights" is her only novel, published in December 1847. The three novels of the three sisters - Charlotte's "Jane Eyre", Emily's "Wuthering Heights" and little sister Anne's "Agnes Grey" - were published in the same year. In addition to "Wuthering Heights", Emily also wrote 193 poems and is considered a talented British female writer.

Anne Bronte

Anne is the youngest girl in the Bronte family. She is gentle, quiet and introverted, and is slightly less talented than her two sisters. She only lived to be 29 years old, and in the last ten years of her short life, her depressing job as a governess took up a lot of her time, but she still wrote two novels, "Agnes Grey" and "Wyle". "The Tenant of Delfield House" occupies a certain position in the history of British literature. The novels written by her are just like herself, giving people a sense of tranquility. The protagonists all have pure moral character and bravely pursue independence and happiness. This is also a portrayal of Anne's heart. The forthrightness and clarity of Anne's writings are more like those of the 18th century than the style of the Victorian writers of which she lived. Anne has been reading with her sisters since she was a child and participated in their literary games. She was eagerly immersed in the kingdom of dreams and wrote a large number of sad little hymns. She has beautiful light brown hair, lovely blue eyes with a tinge of violet, fair skin, and a gentle and lovely appearance. She is deeply loved by her aunt. She and Emily were like twin sisters, inseparable and close. They often wrote diaries together or roamed in the wilderness, and gave beautiful names to the places they were familiar with. She has a thin and sweet voice, and likes soft harmonies. She plays the piano and sings in her spare time, but this kind of pleasant pleasure is too rare in her life. Later, Anne went to Miss Wooler's school with her sister Charlotte for a period of time, but soon she fell ill, had difficulty breathing, coughed constantly, and her body gradually weakened. Thinking of her two sisters who died of illness, Charlotte was worried and decided to take Anne back to Haworth. Returning to her free and peaceful home, Anne's illness slowly improved. In order to make a living, in April 1839, she went to Blake House in Muerfield and worked as a tutor at Mrs. Ingham's house. Later, she worked as a governess at Edmund Robinson's house in Thorpe Green. Her experiences as a tutor directly provided a lot of material for the novel "Agnes Grey". The publisher Mr. Smith has a precious description of Anne: "She is a gentle, quiet, and quite self-denying person. She is not beautiful at all, but her appearance is very pleasant. Her attitude is strangely that of asking for protection and support. She always maintained a sincere look on her face, which could win sympathy from others. "Anne was frail and sick throughout her life, but underneath her frail appearance, she had a strong will and a brave and persistent heart.
