Why Du Fu's works are called "History of Poetry"

Du Fu's poems truly reflect the historical process of feudal society from prosperity to decline in Tang Dynasty, so they are called "the history of poetry".

When Du Fu was young, it was a period of high prosperity in the Tang Dynasty. Du Fu passed successively! "During his years of roaming, he wrote poems such as" Looking at Yue "and praised the great rivers and mountains of the motherland, showing great ambition and spirit.

Du Fu went to Beijing to take the exam, when the Tang Dynasty was in decline. Tang Xuanzong didn't ask politics, treacherous court official Li monopolized power and the court was dark. For example, Li cheated on him, and as a result, no candidate was admitted this time. Du Fu began to understand the darkness of the court. After hard work, his poems were appreciated by Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, and he was hired after preparing for the exam. However, after the exam, Li played a trick again and Du Fu was not hired. Life is getting poorer and poorer, so he wrote "Car Shop", which exposed the crimes of Xuanzong's frontier war and recruiting troops, and wrote the tragic ending of conscripts and the poor life of their families.

Many years later, Du Fu finally had a small official who managed the ordnance warehouse. When he returned home to visit relatives, he wrote "He sang 500 words from Beijing to Fengxian", and wrote the social status quo of "The wine in Zhumen stinks and the road freezes to death", showing the face of that era.

Just when he went home to visit relatives, the situation changed. The Anshi Rebellion captured Luoyang and Tongguan, all the way to the capital Chang 'an. Du Fu fled with his family, but was caught by the rebels and sent to Chang 'an after the fall. At this time, the poet was so sad that he wrote the poem "Looking at Spring": "Although the country is broken, the mountains and rivers will last forever, and the vegetation will turn green in spring ..." This war brought disaster to the country and people.

Later, Chang 'an was recovered, but Du Fu was expelled from Chang 'an. He came into contact with the groaning people and wrote immortal masterpieces-Three Officials and Three Farewells. This group of poems exposes the ruler's sin of grasping able-bodied men regardless of the lives of the people.

Du Fu lived in exile. Once, with the help of friends, he built a thatched cottage in Chengdu and planted medicine beds and chestnuts with farmers. At this time, he wrote hundreds of poems, such as "The Hut was Blown by Autumn Wind", which reflected the miserable life of the people at that time and their longing for a bright political situation.

Du Fu's poems are really like a mirror of the times, depicting the history of the Tang Dynasty in front of readers, so people call his works "the history of poetry".
