Olympic hymn (also known as Olympic ode or Olympic anthem), the tune is composed by samaras, and the lyrics come from the poems of Greek poet and writer palamas. The words and tunes were chosen by Demetrius Vikelas himself.
The hymn was first sung at the opening ceremony of the Athens Olympic Games in 1896, but it was not confirmed as the Olympic anthem at that time. Since then, all the Olympic Games have been decided by the host, and no unified form of anthem has been formed. For example, the anthem of the Berlin Olympic Games in 1936 was "Song of the Olympic Games" specially written by Strauss for this Olympic Games, and the anthem was composed by quilter and written by kipling in 1948.
