Sailors' appreciation of poetry

This poem is about the memory of a sailor who left his hometown for his lover. This kind of subject matter was very common, but the poet used his sincerity and affection to describe the deep tremor of sailors, which made people feel sincere and profound. No wonder Liang praised this poem in his letter to Xu Zhimo, saying that "the second sentence is so crisp and fresh" ("Poetry and Truth").

Sailors wander all year round, waiting for the wind and waves. They take the sea as their home, associate with tidal gulls all day long, and live an unusually monotonous and lonely life. For them, it is a blessing to meet land on the ship, let alone their hometown. On the moonlit sea, the sailor was lost in thought. "He is afraid to blink at the sight of the moon and see the sea waves", not because he is worried about risks, but because he is afraid that it will "lead him to his hometown where water and sky meet". But after all, he thinks about his relatives in his hometown, and he is so affectionate and single-minded.

This poem depicts the mood of the characters through the contradiction between affection and common sense. Sailors are afraid to see their hometown and think about it, which is a contradictory psychological state. It stands to reason that if you are afraid to see your hometown, you can completely forget about it; I want to see my hometown, let alone see it. In this way, the more I worry about not seeing my hometown, the stronger my homesickness becomes. The whole poem reveals the complex and subtle emotional world of the characters from the alternate changes of the pictures of sailing on a moonlit night and the sailor's consciousness. As you can imagine, sailors are thinking about their sweetheart drying clothes in the distant sea, which shows that only strong and sincere love can produce such romantic and infinite reverie. Even if his sweetheart is not around or far away, the poet can imagine and summon the beautiful image of his sweetheart with his past life experience. The author once said, "Who can see the natural scenery and the soaring of God?" We can learn from this poem. This poem has a long artistic conception and warm feelings. The author created a silhouette and a scene, skillfully connected the two fragments with the word "love", and sketched and stroked with a light pen and ink, which seemed to be out of carelessness and trust in the pen. In fact, the light pen hides deep meaning, while the light ink contains true feelings, which is quite artistic. In particular, the author compares the good life in the past with the present situation of sailors, so that the lonely and desolate feelings of sailors contained in the gloomy style can be more vividly expressed.
